The Shimmering Light Mawlid (Arabic: مولد الضياء اللامع; Mawlid al-Diya al-Lami; also translated as ‘The Resplendent Illumination’) is a popular Mawlid text authored by the lordly gnostic al-Habib Umar bin Muhammad bin Salim bin Hafiz. Habib Umar is a descendent of the Prophet ﷺ and was born and raised in Tarim, Yemen. He teaches Traditional Islamic Sciences at an institute in Tarim which he established over two decades ago called Dar al-Mustafa. He also travels around the world and guides people to Allah. The poem summaries the account of the birth of the Prophet ﷺ, how he was raised ﷺ, and his life ﷺ. It is traditionally recited on Thursday nights throughout the world.

5. O Lord, send prayers upon Muhammad

وَعَافِنَا وَاشْفِ كُلَّ مُوجَعْ

وَاكْفِ الْمُعَادِي وَاصْرِفْهُ وَارْدَعْ

Yā Rabbī ṣalli ʿalā Muḥammad
Wa-kfi l-muʿādī wa-ṣrifhu wa-rdaʿ

8. O Lord, send prayers upon Muhammad
Restrain, divert and deter every aggressor

يَا رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدْ
نَحُلُّ فِي حِصْنِكَ الْمُمَنَّعْ
نَحُلُّ فِي حِصْنِكَ الْمُمَنَّعْ

Naḥullu fī ḥiṣnika l-mumannaʿ
Naḥullu fī ḥiṣnika l-mumannaʿ
9. O Lord, send prayers upon Muhammad
Allow us to dwell in Your impenetrable fortress

يَا رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدْ
رَبِّ ارْضَ عَنَّا رِضَاكَ الْأَرْفَعْ

Rabbi-rḍa ʿannā riḍāka l-arfaʿ

10. O Lord, send prayers upon Muhammad
Lord, be pleased with us with Your Most Exalted Pleasure

يَا رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدْ
وَاجْعَلْ لَنَا فِي الْجِنَانِ مَجْمَعْ
وَاجْعَلْ لَنَا فِي الْجِنَانِ مَجْمَعْ
Yā Rabbī ṣalli ʿalā Muḥammad
Wa-jʿal lanā fi l-jināni majmaʿ
Wa-jʿal lanā fi l-jināni majmaʿ
11. O Lord, send prayers upon Muhammad
And make the Gardens of Paradise our place of gathering

يَا رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدْ
رَافِقْ بِنَا خَيْرَ خَلْقِكَ أَجْمَعْ
رَافِقْ بِنَا خَيْرَ خَلْقِكَ أَجْمَعْ

Rāfiq binā khayra khalqika ajmaʿ

12. O Lord, send prayers upon Muhammad
Grant us all the company of the best of Your creation

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهْ
Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim wa bārik ʿalayhi wa ʿalā ālih
14. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
أَعُوذُ بِاٱللهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَانِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ
Aʿūdhu bi Llāhi mina sh-shayṭāni r-rajīm
15. I take refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed
بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm.
16. In the Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.
إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُّبِينًا ❁ لِّيَغْفِرَ لَكَ اللهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِن ذَنۢبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ وَيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَيْكَ وَيَهْدِيَكَ صِرَٰطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا ❁ وَيَنصُرَكَ ٱللهُ نَصْرًا عَزِيزًا ❁
Innā fataḥnā laka fatḥan mubīnā. Li-yaghfira laka Llāhu mā taqaddama min dhanbika wa mā ta'akh-khara wa yutimma niʿmatahu ʿalayka wa yahdiyaka ṣirāṭan mustaqīmā. Wa yanṣuraka Llāhu naṣran ʿazīzā.
17. Truly, We have granted you a clear victory, so that Allah may forgive you your previous and later fault, and complete His favour upon you, and guide you on a straight path, and so Allah may help you with mighty assistance.
[48:1-3]

لَقَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيْهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ ❁ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَقُلْ حَسْبِيَ ٱللهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ ❁
Laqad jā'akum rasūlun min anfusikum ʿazīzun ʿalayhi mā ʿanittum ḥarīṣun ʿalaykum bi l-mu'minīna ra'ūfun raḥīm. Fa-in tawallaw faqul ḥasbiya Llāhu lā ilāha illā huwa ʿalayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa Rabbu l-ʿArshi l-ʿAẓīm.
18. Indeed, a Messenger has come to you from among yourselves. Your suffering is distressing to him, he is deeply concerned for you, he is gentle and merciful to the believers. But if they turn away, say, ‘Allah is enough for me. There is no god but Him. I have put my trust in Him, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.’

إِنَّ ٱللهَ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتَهۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَىٰ ٱلنَّبِيِّ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسْلِيمًا ❁
Inna Llāha wa malā'ikatahu yuṣallūna ʿala n-nabiyy; yā ayyuha l-ladhīna āmanū ṣallū ʿalayhi wa sallimū taslīmā.
19. Indeed, Allah and His angels shower blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe! Send blessings on him and salute him with a worthy salutation.

Chapter One
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهْ
Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim wa bārik ʿalayhi wa ʿalā ālih
20. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِي هَدَانَا
بِعَبْدِهِ الْمُخْتَارِ مَنْ دَعَانَا
بِعَبْدِهِ الْمُخْتَارِ مَنْ دَعَانَا
Al-ḥamdu li-Llāhi l-ladhī hadānā
Bi-ʿabdihi l-mukhtāri man daʿānā
Bi-ʿabdihi l-mukhtāri man daʿānā
21. Praise be to the One who guided us
Through His chosen slave, who summoned us
Through His chosen slave, who summoned us
إِلَيْهِ بِالْإِذْنِ وَقَدْ نَادَانَا
لَبَّيْكَ يَامَنْ دَلَّنَا وَحَدَانَا
لَبَّيْكَ يَامَنْ دَلَّنَا وَحَدَانَا
Ilayhi bi l-idhni wa qad nādānā
Labbayka yā man dallanā wa ḥadānā
Labbayka yā man dallanā wa ḥadānā
22. To Him, by (His) permission, indeed he invited us
At your service [O Prophet], O one who guided and urged us forward

صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ اللهُ بَارِئُكَ الَّذِي
بِكَ يَا مُشَفَّعُ خَصَّنَا وَحَبَانَا
بِكَ يَا مُشَفَّعُ خَصَّنَا وَحَبَانَا
Ṣallā ʿalayka Llāhu bāri'uka lladhī
Bika yā mushaffaʿu khaṣṣanā wa ḥabānā
Bika yā mushaffaʿu khaṣṣanā wa ḥabānā
23. Allah - your Creator - has sent prayers upon you
Through you, O Possessor of Intercession, He distinguished and favoured us
Through you, O Possessor of Intercession, He distinguished and favoured us
مَعَ آلِكَ الْأَطْهَارِ مَعْدِنِ سِرِّكَ
الْأَسْمَى فَهُمْ سُفُنُ النَّجَاةِ حِمَانَا
الْأَسْمَى فَهُمْ سُفُنُ النَّجَاةِ حِمَانَا
Maʿa ālika l-aṭ-hāri maʿdini sirrika-l
Asmā fahum sufunu n-najāti ḥimānā
Asmā fahum sufunu n-najāti ḥimānā
24. Together with your pure Family, the treasure trove of your highest secret,
For they are the ships of salvation, our sanctuary

وَعَلَىٰ صَحَابَتِكَ الْكِرَامِ حُمَاةِ دِيـ
ـنِكَ أَصْبَحُوا لِوَلَائِهِ عُنْوَانَا
ـنِكَ أَصْبَحُوا لِوَلَائِهِ عُنْوَانَا
Wa ʿalā ṣaḥābatika l-kirāmi ḥumāti dī-
Nika aṣbaḥū li-walā'ihi ʿunwānā
Nika aṣbaḥū li-walā'ihi ʿunwānā
25. And upon your noble Companions, the defenders of your religion
They are models of loyalty to him
They are models of loyalty to him
وَالتَّابِعِينَ لَهُمْ بِصِدْقٍ مَا حَدَى
حَادِي الْمَوَدَّةِ هَيَّجَ الْأَشْجَانَا
حَادِي الْمَوَدَّةِ هَيَّجَ الْأَشْجَانَا
Wa-t-tābiʿīna lahum bi ṣidqin mā ḥadā
Ḥādi l-mawaddati hayyaja l-ashjānā
Ḥādi l-mawaddati hayyaja l-ashjānā
26. And upon those who follow them with truthfulness, as long as

وَاللهِ مَا ذُكِرَ الْحَبِيبُ لَدَى الْمُحِبِّ
إِلَّا وَأَضْحَى وَالِهًا نَشْوَانَا
إِلَّا وَأَضْحَى وَالِهًا نَشْوَانَا
Wa Llāhi mā dhukira l-ḥabību lada l-muḥibbi
Illā wa aḍ-ḥā wālihan nashwānā
Illā wa aḍ-ḥā wālihan nashwānā
27. By Allah, never is the Beloved mentioned in the presence of the lover
Except that he becomes passionately overwhelmed with joy

أَيْنَ الْمُحِبُّونَ الَّذِينَ عَلَيْهِمُ
بَذْلُ النُّفُوسِ مَعَ النَّفَائِسِ هَانَا
بَذْلُ النُّفُوسِ مَعَ النَّفَائِسِ هَانَا
Ayna l-muḥibbūna l-ladhīna ʿalayhimu
Badhlu n-nufūsi maʿa n-nafā'isi hānā
Badhlu n-nufūsi maʿa n-nafā'isi hānā
28. Where are the lovers who find ease
In sacrificing their souls and every precious thing [for their Beloved]?

لَا يَسْمَعُونَ بِذِكْرِ طَهَ الْمُصْطَفَى
إِلَّا بِهِ انْتَعَشُوا وَأَذْهَبَ رَانَا
إِلَّا بِهِ انْتَعَشُوا وَأَذْهَبَ رَانَا
Lā yasmaʿūna bi dhikri Ṭāha l-Muṣṭafā
Illā bihi-ntaʿashū wa adh-haba rānā
Illā bihi-ntaʿashū wa adh-haba rānā
29. Never do they hear a mention of Taha, the Chosen One,
Except that by it they are revived and the rust [upon their hearts] vanishes

فَاهْتَاجَتِ الْأَرْوَاحُ تَشْتَاقُ اللِّقَا
وَتَحِنُّ تَسْأَلُ رَبَّهَا الرِّضْوَانَا
وَتَحِنُّ تَسْأَلُ رَبَّهَا الرِّضْوَانَا
Fa-htājati l-arwāḥu tashtāqu l-liqā
Wa taḥinnu tas'alu Rabbahā r-riḍwānā
Wa taḥinnu tas'alu Rabbahā r-riḍwānā
30. Their souls have become aroused, yearning for the encounter,
Longing and asking their Lord for His Good Pleasure

حَالُ الْمُحِبِّينَ كَذَا فَاسْمَعْ إِلَى
سِيَرِ الْمُشَفَّعِ وَارْهِفِ الْآذَانَا
سِيَرِ الْمُشَفَّعِ وَارْهِفِ الْآذَانَا
Ḥālu l-muḥibbīna kadhā fasmaʿ ilā
Siyari l-mushaffaʿi warhifi l-ādhānā
Siyari l-mushaffaʿi warhifi l-ādhānā
31. This is the state of the lovers, so listen closely

وَانْصِتْ إِلَى أَوْصَافِ طَهَ الْمُجْتَبَى
واحْضِرْ لِقَلْبِكَ يَمْتَلِئْ وِجْدَانَا
واحْضِرْ لِقَلْبِكَ يَمْتَلِئْ وِجْدَانَا
Wanṣit ilā awṣāfi Tāha l-mujtabā
Waḥḍir li-qalbika yamtali' wijdānā
Waḥḍir li-qalbika yamtali' wijdānā
32. And lend an ear to the description of Taha, the Elected One,
Make your heart present, and it will be filled with ecstasy

يَا رَبَّنَا صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِمًا
عَلَىٰ حَبِيبِكَ مَنْ إِلَيْكَ دَعَانَا
عَلَىٰ حَبِيبِكَ مَنْ إِلَيْكَ دَعَانَا
Yā Rabbanā ṣalli wa sallim dā'iman
ʿAlā ḥabībika man ilayka daʿānā
ʿAlā ḥabībika man ilayka daʿānā
33. Our Lord, send Your prayers and peace perpetually

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهْ

34. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
Chapter Two
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهْ
Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim wa bārik ʿalayhi wa ʿalā ālih
35. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
نَبَّأَنَا اللهُ فَقَالَ جَائَكُمْ
نُورٌ فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَنْبَانَا
نُورٌ فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَنْبَانَا
Nabba'ana Llāhu fa qāla jā'akum...
Nūrun, fa subḥāna l-ladhī anbānā
Nūrun, fa subḥāna l-ladhī anbānā
36. Allah has announced to us [in the Qur’an], saying, ‘Indeed, there has come to you...
A light’. So glory be to the One who informed us!

وَالنُّورُ طَهَ عَبْدُهُ مَنَّ بِهِ
فِي ذِكْرِهِ أَعْظِمْ بِهِ مَنَّانَا
فِي ذِكْرِهِ أَعْظِمْ بِهِ مَنَّانَا
Wa n-nūru Ṭāhā ʿabduhu manna bihi
Fī dhikrihi aʿẓim bihi mannānā
Fī dhikrihi aʿẓim bihi mannānā
37. And the light is Taha, His servant, He has bestowed [great] favour through him
As mentioned in His reminder, so declare the magnificence of the Bestower of Gifts!

هُوَ رَحْمَةُ الْمَوْلَى تَأَمَّلْ قَوْلَهُ
فَلْيَفْرَحُوا وَاغْدُ بِهِ فَرْحَانَا
فَلْيَفْرَحُوا وَاغْدُ بِهِ فَرْحَانَا
Huwa raḥmatu l-Mawlā ta'ammal qawlahu
Fa-l-yafraḥū waghdu bihi farḥānā
Fa-l-yafraḥū waghdu bihi farḥānā
38. He is the mercy of our Master. Reflect upon His words:
‘Rejoice’ and through him go forth in utter happiness
‘Rejoice’ and through him go forth in utter happiness
مُسْتَمْسِكًا بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَى
وَمُعْتَصِمًا بِحَبْلِ اللهِ مَنْ أَنْشَانَا
وَمُعْتَصِمًا بِحَبْلِ اللهِ مَنْ أَنْشَانَا
Mustamsikan bi l-ʿurwati l-wuthqā
Wa muʿtaṣiman bi ḥabli Llāhi man anshānā
Wa muʿtaṣiman bi ḥabli Llāhi man anshānā
39. While taking hold of the firmest handhold,
And clinging to the rope of Allah, our Originator
And clinging to the rope of Allah, our Originator
وَاسْتَشْعِرَنْ أَنْوَارَ مَنْ قِيلَ مَتَى
كُنْتَ نَبِيًّا قَالَ آدَمُ كَانَا
كُنْتَ نَبِيًّا قَالَ آدَمُ كَانَا
Wa-stashʿiran anwāra man qīla matā
Kunta nabiyyan qāla Ādamu kānā
Kunta nabiyyan qāla Ādamu kānā
40. Experience the lights of the one, who when asked,
‘When were you a Prophet?’ replied, ‘When Adam was...
‘When were you a Prophet?’ replied, ‘When Adam was...
بَيْنَ التُّرَابِ وَبَيْنَ مَاءٍ فَاسْتَفِقْ
مِنْ غَفْلَةٍ عَنْ ذَا وَكُنْ يَقْظَانَا
مِنْ غَفْلَةٍ عَنْ ذَا وَكُنْ يَقْظَانَا
Bayna t-turābi wa bayna mā'in fa-stafiq
Min ghaflatin ʿan dhā wa kun yaqẓānā
Min ghaflatin ʿan dhā wa kun yaqẓānā
41. ...between earth and water!’ So awaken
From your heedlessness concerning this and become enlightened!

وَاعْبُرْ إِلَى أَسْرَارِ رَبِّي لَمْ يَزَلْ
يَنْقُلُنِي بَيْنَ الْخِيَارِ مُصَانَا
يَنْقُلُنِي بَيْنَ الْخِيَارِ مُصَانَا
Waʿbur ilā asrāri Rabbī lam yazal
Yanqulunī bayna l-khiyāri muṣānā
Yanqulunī bayna l-khiyāri muṣānā
42. Contemplate the secrets of ‘My Lord continued
To transport me safely through the best [of loins].
To transport me safely through the best [of loins].
لَمْ تَفْتَرِقْ مِنْ شُعْبَتَيْنِ إِلَّا أَنَا
فِي خَيْرِهَا حَتَّى بُرُوزِيَ آنَا
فِي خَيْرِهَا حَتَّى بُرُوزِيَ آنَا
Lam taftariq min shuʿbatayni illā anā
Fī khayrihā ḥattā burūziya ānā
Fī khayrihā ḥattā burūziya ānā
43. ‘Never did two lineages branch out except that
I was in the better half until the time came for my emergence,
I was in the better half until the time came for my emergence,
فَأَنَا خِيَارٌ مِنْ خِيَارٍ قَدْ خَرَجْتُ
مِنْ نِكَاحٍ لِي إِلَـٰهِي صَانَا
مِنْ نِكَاحٍ لِي إِلَـٰهِي صَانَا
Fa anā khiyārun min khiyārin qad kharajtu
Min nikāḥin lī Ilāhī ṣānā
Min nikāḥin lī Ilāhī ṣānā
44. ‘For I am the best of the best, I have come into existence
Through pure unions [alone]; my Lord has protected this for me.’

طَهَّرَهُ اللهُ حَمَاهُ اخْتَارَهُ
وَمَا بَرَى كَمِثْلِهِ إِنْسَانَا
وَمَا بَرَى كَمِثْلِهِ إِنْسَانَا
Ṭahharahu Llāhu ḥamāhu khtārahu
Wa mā barā ka-mithlihi insānā
Wa mā barā ka-mithlihi insānā
45. Allah has purified him, protected him and chosen him,
Never has any human being been created like him!
Never has any human being been created like him!
وَبِحُبِّهِ وَبِذِكْرِهِ وَالنَّصْرِ وَالتَّـ
ـوْقِيرِ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ قَدْ أَوْصَانَا
ـوْقِيرِ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ قَدْ أَوْصَانَا
Wa bi ḥubbihi wa bi dhikrihi wa n-naṣri wa t-
Tawqīri Rabbu l-ʿArshi qad awṣānā
Tawqīri Rabbu l-ʿArshi qad awṣānā
46. To love him, to mention him, to give him victory and to respect him,
Thus we are directed by the Lord of the Throne.
Thus we are directed by the Lord of the Throne.
يَارَبَّنَا صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِمًا
عَلَىٰ حَبِيبِكَ مَنْ إِلَيْكَ دَعَانَا
عَلَىٰ حَبِيبِكَ مَنْ إِلَيْكَ دَعَانَا
Yā Rabbanā ṣalli wa sallim da'iman
ʿAlā ḥabībika man ilayka daʿānā
ʿAlā ḥabībika man ilayka daʿānā
47. Our Lord, send Your prayers and peace perpetually
Upon Your Beloved, the one who invited us to You.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهْ
Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim wa bārik ʿalayhi wa ʿalā ālih
48. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
Chapter Three
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهْ
Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim wa bārik ʿalayhi wa ʿalā ālih
49. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
هَذَا وَقَدْ نَشَرَ الْإِلَـٰهُ نُعُوتَهُ
فِي الْكُتْبِ بَيَّنَهَا لَنَا تِبْيَانَا
فِي الْكُتْبِ بَيَّنَهَا لَنَا تِبْيَانَا
Hādhā wa qad nashara l-ilāhu nuʿūtahu
Fi l-kutbi bayyanahā lanā tibyānā
Fi l-kutbi bayyanahā lanā tibyānā
50. So indeed, the Divine has spread mention of His attributes
In the revealed books, announcing them to us clearly
In the revealed books, announcing them to us clearly
أَخَذَ مِيثَاقَ النَّبِيِّينَ لَمَا
آتَيْتُكُمْ مِنْ حِكْمَةٍ إِحْسَانَا
آتَيْتُكُمْ مِنْ حِكْمَةٍ إِحْسَانَا
Akhadha mīthāqa n-nabiyyīna lamā
Ātaytukum min ḥikmatin iḥsānā
Ātaytukum min ḥikmatin iḥsānā
51. He took the covenant from the Prophets
When [He said] ‘I have given you of wisdom, the most excellent,
When [He said] ‘I have given you of wisdom, the most excellent,
وَجَائَكُمْ رَسُولُنَا لَتُؤْمِنُنَّ
وَتَنْصُرُونَ وَتُصْبِحُونَ أَعْوَانَا
وَتَنْصُرُونَ وَتُصْبِحُونَ أَعْوَانَا
Wa jā'akum rasūlunā latu'minunna
Wa tanṣurūna wa tuṣbiḥūna aʿwānā
Wa tanṣurūna wa tuṣbiḥūna aʿwānā
52. And [when] Our Messenger comes to you, then you must believe in him,
Give victory to him, and become his helpers.’

قَدْ بَشَّرُوا أَقْوَامَهُمْ باِلْمُصْطَفَى
أَعْظِمْ بِذَلِكَ رُتْبَةً وَمَكَانَا
أَعْظِمْ بِذَلِكَ رُتْبَةً وَمَكَانَا
Qad bash-sharū aqwāmahum bi l-Muṣṭafā
Aʿẓim bi dhālika rutbatan wa makānā
Aʿẓim bi dhālika rutbatan wa makānā
53. They gave their people the good news of the coming of the Chosen One,
O how great is that station and rank!
O how great is that station and rank!
فَهُوَ وَإِنْ جَاءَ الْأَخِيرُ مُقَدَّمٌ
يَمْشُونَ تَحْتَ لِوَاءِ مَنْ نَادَانَا
يَمْشُونَ تَحْتَ لِوَاءِ مَنْ نَادَانَا
Fa huwa wa in jā'a l-akhīru muqaddamun
Yamshūna taḥta liwā'i man nādānā
Yamshūna taḥta liwā'i man nādānā
54. Although he was the last to be sent, he will be the foremost,
[All the Prophets] will walk under the banner of the one who called us.
[All the Prophets] will walk under the banner of the one who called us.
يَا أُمَّةَ الْإِسْلَامِ أَوَّلُ شَافِعٍ
وَمُشَفَّعٍ أَنَا قَطُّ لَا أَتَوَانَى
وَمُشَفَّعٍ أَنَا قَطُّ لَا أَتَوَانَى
Yā ummata l-lslāmi awwalu shāfiʿin
Wa mushaffaʿin anā qaṭṭu lā atawānā
Wa mushaffaʿin anā qaṭṭu lā atawānā
55. ‘O Ummah of Islam! I am the first intercessor and my intercession will be accepted
I will not hold back in any way whatsoever’
I will not hold back in any way whatsoever’
حَتَّى أُنَادَى ارْفَعْ وَسَلْ تُعْطَ وَقُلْ
يُسْمَعْ لِقَوْلِكَ نَجْمُ فَخْرِكَ بَانَا
يُسْمَعْ لِقَوْلِكَ نَجْمُ فَخْرِكَ بَانَا
Ḥattā unādā-rfaʿ wa sal tuʿṭa wa qul
Yusmaʿ li qawlika najmu fakhrika bānā
Yusmaʿ li qawlika najmu fakhrika bānā
56. ‘Until it will be said, “Rise [from prostration]; ask and you will be given;
speak and you will be heard, for the star of your glory has become manifest.”’

وَلِوَاءُ حَمْدِ اللهِ جَلَّ بِيَدِي
وَلَأَوَّلًا آتِي أَنَا الْجِنَانَا
وَلَأَوَّلًا آتِي أَنَا الْجِنَانَا
Wa liwā'u ḥamdi Llāhi jalla bi yadī
Wa la'awwalan ātī ana l-jinānā
Wa la'awwalan ātī ana l-jinānā
57. ‘The banner of the praise of Allah Most High will be in my hand,
And indeed I will be the first to enter Paradise!’
And indeed I will be the first to enter Paradise!’
وَأَكْرَمُ الْخَلْقِ عَلَىٰ اللهِ أَنَا
فَلَقَدْ حَبَاكَ اللهُ مِنْهُ حَنَانَا
فَلَقَدْ حَبَاكَ اللهُ مِنْهُ حَنَانَا
Wa akramu l-khalqi ʿalā Llāhi anā
Fa laqad ḥabāka Llāhu minhu ḥanānā
Fa laqad ḥabāka Llāhu minhu ḥanānā
58. ‘I am the most honourable of creation with Allah.’
Indeed Allah has granted you compassion from Himself
Indeed Allah has granted you compassion from Himself
وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ فَتَرْضَى جَلَّ مِنْ
مُعْطٍ تَقَاصَرَ عَنْ عَطَاهُ نُهَانَا
مُعْطٍ تَقَاصَرَ عَنْ عَطَاهُ نُهَانَا
Wa lasawfa yuʿṭīka... fa ṭarḍā jalla min
Muʿṭin taqāṣara ʿan ʿaṭāhu nuhānā
Muʿṭin taqāṣara ʿan ʿaṭāhu nuhānā
59. ‘And [your Lord] will give to you so that you are pleased’ - Exalted is the Giver!
Our intellects are incapable of grasping His bounty!

بِاللّٰهِ كَرِّرْ ذِكْرَ وَصْفِ مُحَمَّدٍ
كَيْمَا تُزِيحَ عَنِ الْقُلُوبِ الرَّانَا
كَيْمَا تُزِيحَ عَنِ الْقُلُوبِ الرَّانَا
Bi Llāhi karrir dhikra waṣfi Muḥammadin
Kaymā tuzīḥa ʿani l-qulūbi r-rānā
Kaymā tuzīḥa ʿani l-qulūbi r-rānā
60. By Allah, mention the attributes of Muhammad time and time again
In order to remove the rust from [our] hearts.

يَا رَبَّنَا صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِمًا
عَلَىٰ حَبِيبِكَ مَنْ إِلَيْكَ دَعَانَا
عَلَىٰ حَبِيبِكَ مَنْ إِلَيْكَ دَعَانَا
Yā Rabbanā ṣalli wa sallim dā'iman
ʿAlā ḥabībika man ilayka daʿānā
ʿAlā ḥabībika man ilayka daʿānā
61. Our Lord, send Your prayers and peace perpetually

62. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
Chapter Four
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهْ
Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim wa bārik ʿalayhi wa ʿalā ālih
63. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
لَمَّا دَنَا وَقْتُ الْبُرُوزِ لِأَحْمَدٍ
عَنْ إِذْنِ مَنْ مَا شَاءَهُ قَدْ كَانَا
عَنْ إِذْنِ مَنْ مَا شَاءَهُ قَدْ كَانَا
Lammā danā waqtu l-burūzi li Aḥmadin
ʿAn idhni man mā shā'ahu qad kānā
ʿAn idhni man mā shā'ahu qad kānā
64. When the time drew near for the emergence of Ahmad
He came into being by the permission of the One who willed it so.

حَمَلَتْ بِهِ الْأُمُّ الْأَمِينَةُ بِنْتُ وَهْـ
ـبٍ مَنْ لَهَا أَعْلَى الْإِلَـٰهُ مَكَانَا
ـبٍ مَنْ لَهَا أَعْلَى الْإِلَـٰهُ مَكَانَا
Ḥamalat bihi l-ummu l-amīnatu bintu Wah-
Bin man lahā aʿla l-ilāhu mākānā
Bin man lahā aʿla l-ilāhu mākānā
65. The trustworthy mother, the daughter of Wahb,
She whose station had been elevated by God, became pregnant with him,
She whose station had been elevated by God, became pregnant with him,
مِنْ وَالِدِ الْمُخْتَارِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بِنْ
عَبْدٍ لِمُطَّلِبٍ رَأَى الْبُرْهَانَا
عَبْدٍ لِمُطَّلِبٍ رَأَى الْبُرْهَانَا
Min wālidi l-mukhtāri ʿAbdi Llāhi bin
ʿAbdin li Muṭṭalibin ra'a l-burhānā
ʿAbdin li Muṭṭalibin ra'a l-burhānā
66. From the chosen father Abd-Allah, the son
Of Abd al-Muttalib who saw the evident proof
Of Abd al-Muttalib who saw the evident proof
قَدْ كَانَ يَغْمُرُ نُورُ طَهَ وَجْهَهُ
وَسَرَى إِلَى الْإِبْنِ الْمَصُونِ عَيَانَا
وَسَرَى إِلَى الْإِبْنِ الْمَصُونِ عَيَانَا
Qad kāna yaghmuru nūru Ṭāhā wajhahu
Wa sarā ila l-ibni l-maṣūni ʿayānā
Wa sarā ila l-ibni l-maṣūni ʿayānā
67. His face overflowed with the light of Taha
Then it was transferred to the protected son [Abd-Allah] for all to see
Then it was transferred to the protected son [Abd-Allah] for all to see
وَهُوَ ابْنُ هَاشِمٍ الْكَرِيمِ الشَّهْمِ بْنِ
عَبْدِ مَنَافِ اِبْنِ قُصَيٍّ كَانَا
عَبْدِ مَنَافِ اِبْنِ قُصَيٍّ كَانَا
Wa huwa bnu Hāshimini l-karīmi sh-shahmi bni
ʿAbdi Manāfi bni Quṣayyin kānā
ʿAbdi Manāfi bni Quṣayyin kānā
68. And he [Abd al-Muttalib] was the son of Hashim, the generous and noble
[Who] was the son of Abdu Manaf, the son of Qusayy
[Who] was the son of Abdu Manaf, the son of Qusayy
وَالِدُهُ يُدْعَى حَكِيمًا شَأْنُهُ
قَدِ اعْتَلَى أَعْزِزْ بِذَلِكَ شَانَا
قَدِ اعْتَلَى أَعْزِزْ بِذَلِكَ شَانَا
Wāliduhu yudʿā ḥakīman sha'nuhu
Qadi ʿtalā aʿziz bi dhālika shānā
Qadi ʿtalā aʿziz bi dhālika shānā
69. And [Qusayy’s] father was named ‘the Wise’, his status has been elevated,
Indeed by them the lineage was strengthened
Indeed by them the lineage was strengthened
وَاحْفَظْ أُصُولَ الْمُصْطَفَى حَتَّى تَرَى
فِي سِلْسِلَاتِ أُصُولِهِ عَدْنَانَا
فِي سِلْسِلَاتِ أُصُولِهِ عَدْنَانَا
Waḥfaẓ uṣūla l-Muṣṭafā ḥattā tarā
Fī silsilāti uṣūlihi ʿAdnānā
Fī silsilāti uṣūlihi ʿAdnānā
70. Commit to memory the lineage of the Chosen One until you see
Adnan in the line of his ancestors
Adnan in the line of his ancestors
فَهُنَاكَ قِفْ وَاعْلَمْ بِرَفْعِهِ إِلَى اسْـ
ـمَاعِيلَ كَانَ لِلْأَبِ مِعْوَانَا
ـمَاعِيلَ كَانَ لِلْأَبِ مِعْوَانَا
Fa hunāka qif wa ʿalam bi rafʿihi ilā-s
Mā'īla kāna li-l abi miʿwānā
Mā'īla kāna li-l abi miʿwānā
71. At that point, stop and realise that the lineage is traced back to
Isma’il, who was a loyal helper to his father
Isma’il, who was a loyal helper to his father
وَحِينَمَا حَمَلَتْ بِهِ آمِنَةٌ
لَمْ تَشْكُ شَيْئًا يَأْخُذُ النِّسْوَانَا
لَمْ تَشْكُ شَيْئًا يَأْخُذُ النِّسْوَانَا
Wa ḥīnamā ḥamalat bihi Āminatun
Lam tashku shay'an ya'khudhu n-niswānā
Lam tashku shay'an ya'khudhu n-niswānā
72. And while Aminah was carrying him,
She did not complain of anything that befalls [pregnant] women
She did not complain of anything that befalls [pregnant] women
وَبِهَا أَحَاطَ اللُّطْفُ مِنْ رَبِّ السَّمَا
أَقْصَى الْأَذَى وَالْهَمَّ وَالْأَحْزَانَا
أَقْصَى الْأَذَى وَالْهَمَّ وَالْأَحْزَانَا
Wa bihā aḥāṭa l-luṭfu min Rabbi s-samā
Aqṣa l-adhā wa l-hamma wa l-aḥzānā
Aqṣa l-adhā wa l-hamma wa l-aḥzānā
73. Gentleness from the Lord of Heaven encompassed her
And drove away from her all harm, worry and sadness
And drove away from her all harm, worry and sadness
وَرَأَتْ كَمَا قَدْ جَاءَ مَا عَلِمَتْ بِهِ
أَنَّ الْمُهَيْمِنَ شَرَّفَ الْأَكْوَانَا
أَنَّ الْمُهَيْمِنَ شَرَّفَ الْأَكْوَانَا
Wa ra'at kamā qad jā'a mā ʿalimat bihi
Anna l-Muhaymina sharrafa l-akwānā
Anna l-Muhaymina sharrafa l-akwānā
74. And she saw [in a vision], as is narrated what she had come to know
That the Guardian (Allah) had honoured the universe
That the Guardian (Allah) had honoured the universe
بِالطُّهْرِ مَنْ فِي بَطْنِهَا فَاسْتَبْشَرَتْ
وَدَنَا الْمَخَاضُ فَأُتْرِعَتْ رِضْوَانَا
وَدَنَا الْمَخَاضُ فَأُتْرِعَتْ رِضْوَانَا
Bi-ṭ-ṭuhri man fī baṭnihā fa-stabsharat
Wa dana l-makhāḍu fa utriʿat riḍwānā
Wa dana l-makhāḍu fa utriʿat riḍwānā
75. Through the pure one who was in her womb, so she rejoiced,
As the time for labour drew near, she was filled with happiness
As the time for labour drew near, she was filled with happiness
سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ وَلَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَاللهُ أَكْبَرْ (٤)
وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمْ
فِي كُلِّ لَحْظَةٍ أَبَدَا عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ وَرِضَا نَفْسِهِ وَزِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ وَمِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ
وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمْ
فِي كُلِّ لَحْظَةٍ أَبَدَا عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ وَرِضَا نَفْسِهِ وَزِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ وَمِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ
76. Subḥāna Llāhi wa l-ḥamdu li-Llāhi wa lā ilāha illā Llāhu wa Llāhu akbar (4 times)
Wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bi Llāhi l-ʿAliyyi l-ʿAẓīm
Fi kulli laḥẓatin abadā ʿadada khalqihi wa riḍā nafsihi wa zinata ʿarshihi wa midāda kalimātih.
Wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bi Llāhi l-ʿAliyyi l-ʿAẓīm
Fi kulli laḥẓatin abadā ʿadada khalqihi wa riḍā nafsihi wa zinata ʿarshihi wa midāda kalimātih.
Glory be to Allah, all praise is for Allah, there is no deity save Allah, Allah is supreme (4 times),
And there is neither power nor strength save in Allah, the High, the Tremendous,
At every moment, eternally, for the number of His creation, the contentment of His being, the weight of His Throne and the extent of His words.

وَتَجَلَّتِ الْأَنْوَارُ مِنْ كُلِّ الْجِهَا
تِ فَوَقْتُ مِيلَادِ الْمُشَفَّعِ حَانَا
تِ فَوَقْتُ مِيلَادِ الْمُشَفَّعِ حَانَا
Wa tajallati l-anwāru min kulli l-jihā-
Ti fa waqtu mīlādi l-mushaffaʿi ḥānā
Ti fa waqtu mīlādi l-mushaffaʿi ḥānā
77. The lights emanated from all directions
For the moment of birth of the one given intercession had come

وَقُبَيْلَ فَجَرٍ أَبْرَزَتْ شَمْسَ الْهُدَى
ظَهَرَ الْحَبِيبُ مُكَرَّمًا وَمُصَانَا
ظَهَرَ الْحَبِيبُ مُكَرَّمًا وَمُصَانَا
Wa qubayla fajrin abrazat shams al-hudā
Ẓahara l-ḥabību mukarraman wa muṣānā
Ẓahara l-ḥabību mukarraman wa muṣānā
78. And shortly before dawn, the Sun of Guidance was made manifest,
The Beloved appeared, honoured and protected

The Place of Standing
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدْ
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ
Ṣalla Llāhu ʿalā Muḥammad
Ṣalla Llāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam
Ṣalla Llāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam
79. O Allah, send Your prayers upon Muhammad
O Allah, send Your prayers and peace upon him
O Allah, send Your prayers and peace upon him
يَانَبِي سَلَامْ عَلَيْكَ
يَارَسُولْ سَلَامْ عَلَيْكَ
يَارَسُولْ سَلَامْ عَلَيْكَ
Yā nabiyy salām ʿalayka
Yā rasūl salām ʿalayka
Yā rasūl salām ʿalayka
80. O Prophet, peace be upon you
O Messenger, peace be upon you
O Messenger, peace be upon you
يَاحَبِيبْ سَلَامْ عَلَيْكَ (يَا رَسُولَ الله)
صَلَوَاتُ اللهِ عَلَيْكَ
صَلَوَاتُ اللهِ عَلَيْكَ
Yā ḥabīb salām ʿalayka (Yā rasūla Llāh)
Ṣalawātu Llāh ʿalayka
Ṣalawātu Llāh ʿalayka

أَبْرَزَ اللهُ الْمُشَفَّعْ
صَاحِبَ الْقَدْرِ الْمُرَفَّعْ

Abraza Llāhu l-mushaffaʿ
Ṣāḥiba l-qadri l-muraffaʿ

82. Allah has manifested the Intercessor

فَمَلَا النُّورُ النَّوَاحِي (بِرَسُولِ الله)
عَمَّ كُلَّ اْلكَوْنِ أَجْمَعْ
عَمَّ كُلَّ اْلكَوْنِ أَجْمَعْ
Fa malā n-nūru n-nawāḥī (bi rasūli Llāh)
ʿAmma kulla l-kawni ajmaʿ
ʿAmma kulla l-kawni ajmaʿ
83. And his light has filled the horizons (by the virtue of the Messenger of Allah)

نُكِّسَتْ أَصْنَامُ شِرْكٍ
وَبِنَا الشِّرْكِ تَصَدَّعْ
وَبِنَا الشِّرْكِ تَصَدَّعْ
Nukkisat aṣnāmu shirkin
Wa bina sh-shirki taṣaddaʿ
Wa bina sh-shirki taṣaddaʿ
84. Torn down are the icons of idolatry
The edifice of idolatry has crumbled

وَدَنَا وَقْتُ الْهِدَايَةْ (بِرَسُولِ الله)
وَحِمَى الْكُفْرِ تَزَعْزَعْ
وَحِمَى الْكُفْرِ تَزَعْزَعْ
Wa danā waqtu l-hidāyaḥ (bi rasūli Llāh)
Wa ḥima l-kufri tazaʿzaʿ
Wa ḥima l-kufri tazaʿzaʿ
85. The time of guidance has drawn near (by the virtue of the Messenger of Allah)
And the fortress of disbelief has been shaken

مَرْحَبًا أَهْلًا وَسَهْلًا
بِكَ يَا ذَا الْقَدْرِ الْأَرْفَعْ

86. Greetings and welcome
To you, O possessor of the lofty rank

يَا إِمَامَ أَهْلِ الرِّسَالَةْ (يَا رَسُولَ الله)
مَنْ بِهِ الْآفَاتُ تُدْفَعْ
مَنْ بِهِ الْآفَاتُ تُدْفَعْ
Yā imāma ahli r-risālah (Yā rasūla Llāh)
Man bihi l-āfātu tudfaʿ
Man bihi l-āfātu tudfaʿ
87. O Master of the people of revelation (O Messenger of Allah)
By whom evil is repelled

أَنْتَ فِي الْحَشْرِ مَلَاذٌ
لَكَ كُلُّ الْخَلْقِ تَفْزَعْ
لَكَ كُلُّ الْخَلْقِ تَفْزَعْ
Anta fi l-ḥashri malādhun
Laka kullu l-khalqi tafzaʿ
Laka kullu l-khalqi tafzaʿ
88. You will be a refuge on the Day of Gathering
All of creation will flee to you

وَيُنَادُونَ تَرَىٰ مَا (يَا رَسُولَ الله)
قَدْ دَهَا مِنْ هَوْلٍ أَفْظَعْ
قَدْ دَهَا مِنْ هَوْلٍ أَفْظَعْ
Wa yunādūna tarā mā (Yā rasūla Llāh)
Qad dahā min hawlin afẓaʿ
Qad dahā min hawlin afẓaʿ
89. And they will cry out, saying, ‘Look (O Messenger of Allah)
What dreadful terrors have afflicted us!’

مَرْحَبًا يَا نُورَ عَيْنِي (مَرْحَبًا)
مَرْحَبًا جَدَّ الْحُسَيْنِ (مَرْحَبًا)

90. Welcome! O light of my eyes. Welcome!

فَلَهَا أَنْتَ فَتَسْجُدْ (مَرْحَبًا)
وَتُنَادَى اشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ (مَرْحَبًا)
وَتُنَادَى اشْفَعْ تُشَفَّعْ (مَرْحَبًا)
Fa lahā anta fa tasjud (marḥaban)
Wa tunādā shfaʿ tushaffaʿ (marḥaban)

91. And for (the intercession) you will prostrate (Welcome!)
And be addressed, intercede, for your intercession is accepted (Welcome!)

فَعَلَيْكَ اللهُ صَلَّى (مَرْحَبًا)
مَابَدَى النُّورُ وَشَعْشَعْ (مَرْحَبًا)

Fa ʿalayka Llāhu ṣallā (marhaban)

92. For Allah has sent prayers upon you (Welcome!)
As long as the light shines and radiates (Welcome!)

وَبِكَ الرَّحْمٰنُ نَسْأَلْ (يَا الله)
وَإِلَـٰهُ الْعَرْشِ يَسْمَعْ (يَا الله)

Wa bika r-Raḥmānu nas'al (Yā Allāh)
Wa Ilāhu l-ʿArshi yasmaʿ (Yā Allāh)

93. By you, we ask the Most Merciful (O Allah)
And the Lord of the Throne hears us (O Allah)

رَبِّ فَاغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي (يَا الله)
بَرْكَةِ اْلهَادِي الْمُشَفَّعْ (يَا الله)

Rabbi faghfir lī dhunūbī (Yā Allāh)

94. O Lord! Forgive my sins (O Allah)
(By) the blessing of the Interceding Guide (O Allah)

يَاعَظِيمَ الْمَنِّ يَارَبْ (يَا الله)
شَمْلَنَا بِالْمُصْطَفَى اجْمَعْ (يَا الله)

Yā ʿAẓīma l-Manni yā Rab (Yā Allāh)
Shamlanā bi l-Muṣṭafā jmaʿ (Yā Allāh)

95. O Bestower of Great Bounties, O Lord! (O Allah)
Gather us all with the Chosen One (O Allah)

وَاعْطِنَا بِهْ كُلَّ مَطْمَعْ (يَا الله)

96. And by him, gaze upon us (O Allah)
And by him, grant us all we long for (O Allah)

97. Protect us from all calamities (O Allah)
Divert and lift all afflictions (O Allah)

صَلَّى الله عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدْ
صَلَّى الله عَلَيْه وَسَلَّمْ
صَلَّى الله عَلَيْه وَسَلَّمْ
Ṣalla Llāh ʿalā Muḥammad

98. O Allah, send Your prayers upon Muhammad

وَاسْقِنَا يَارَبْ أَغِثْنَا
بِحَيًا هَطَّالْ يَهْمَعْ
بِحَيًا هَطَّالْ يَهْمَعْ
Wasqinā yā Rabb aghithnā
Bi ḥayan haṭṭāl yahmaʿ
Bi ḥayan haṭṭāl yahmaʿ
99. Give us to drink, O Lord! And come to our aid
With a life-giving rain pouring down
With a life-giving rain pouring down

وَاخْتِمِ الْعُمْرَ بِحُسْنَى
وَاحْسِنِ الْعُقْبَى وَمَرْجَعْ
وَاحْسِنِ الْعُقْبَى وَمَرْجَعْ
Wakhtimi l-ʿumra bi ḥusnā
Waḥsini l-ʿuqbā wa marjaʿ
Waḥsini l-ʿuqbā wa marjaʿ
100. Seal our lives with excellence
Make beautiful our final end and our return

وَصَلَاةُ اللهِ تَغْشَى
مَنْ لَهُ الْحُسْنُ تَجَمَّعْ

Wa ṣalātu Llāhi taghshā
Man lahu l-ḥusnu tajammaʿ

101. And may the prayers of Allah envelop
The one in whom all beauty has gathered

أَحْمَدَ الطُّهْرَ وَآلِهْ
وَالصَّحَابَةْ مَا السَّنَا شَعْ
وَالصَّحَابَةْ مَا السَّنَا شَعْ
Aḥmada ṭ-ṭuhra wa ālih
Wa ṣ-ṣaḥābah ma s-sanā shaʿ
Wa ṣ-ṣaḥābah ma s-sanā shaʿ
102. Ahmad the Pure, and his Family
And the Companions, as long as light shines

103. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family

Chapter Five
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهْ
Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim wa bārik ʿalayhi wa ʿalā ālih
104. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
وُلِدَ الْحَبِيبُ فَخَرَّ حَالًا سَاجِدًا
لِلّٰهِ مَنْ أَنْشَانَا وَبَرَانَا
لِلّٰهِ مَنْ أَنْشَانَا وَبَرَانَا
Wulida l-ḥabību fa kharra ḥālan sājidan
Li-Llāhi man anshānā wa barānā
Li-Llāhi man anshānā wa barānā
105. The Beloved was born and he fell immediately into prostration
To Allah, our Creator and Originator
To Allah, our Creator and Originator
وَرِعَايَةُ الْمَوْلَى تُحِيطُ بِأَحْمَدٍ
فِي كُلِّ حِينٍ بَاطِنًا وَعَيَانَا
فِي كُلِّ حِينٍ بَاطِنًا وَعَيَانَا
Wa riʿāyatu l-Mawlā tuḥīṭu bi Aḥmadin
Fī kulli ḥīnin bāṭinan wa ʿayānā
Fī kulli ḥīnin bāṭinan wa ʿayānā
106. The protection of the Lord encompasses Ahmad
In every moment, hidden and manifest
In every moment, hidden and manifest
قَدْ أَرْضَعَتْهُ الْأُمُّ ثُمَّ ثَوَيْبَةٌ
وَحَلِيمَةٌ مَنْ سُعْدُهَا قَدْ بَانَا
وَحَلِيمَةٌ مَنْ سُعْدُهَا قَدْ بَانَا
Qad arḍaʿat-hu l-ummu thumma Thuwaybatun
Wa Ḥalīmatun man suʿduhā qad bānā
Wa Ḥalīmatun man suʿduhā qad bānā
107. (Aminah) His mother, nursed him, then Thuwaybah,
And then Halimah, whose felicity had become clear

قَدْ بَشَّرَتْ ثَوَيْبَةٌ سَيِّدَهَا
أَبَا لَهَبٍ أَعْتَقَهَا فَرْحَانَا
أَبَا لَهَبٍ أَعْتَقَهَا فَرْحَانَا
Qad bash-sharat Thuwaybatun sayyidahā
Abā Lahabin aʿtaqahā farḥānā
Abā Lahabin aʿtaqahā farḥānā
108. Thuwaybah gave the good news to her master, Abu Lahab
And he freed her out of happiness

لَمْ يَنْسَ خَالِقُنَا لَهُ فَرْحَتَهُ
بِالْمُصْطَفَى وَبِذَا الْحَدِيثُ أَتَانَا
بِالْمُصْطَفَى وَبِذَا الْحَدِيثُ أَتَانَا
Lam yansa Khāliqunā lahu farḥatahu
Bi l-Muṣṭafā wa bi dha l-ḥadīthu atānā
Bi l-Muṣṭafā wa bi dha l-ḥadīthu atānā
109. Our Creator did not forget his happiness
At (the birth of) the Chosen One, as the hadith informs us
At (the birth of) the Chosen One, as the hadith informs us
أَنَّ الْعَذَابَ مُخَفَّفٌ فِي كُلِّ اِثْـ
ـنَيْنٍ لِفَرْحَتِهِ بِمَنْ وَافَانَا
ـنَيْنٍ لِفَرْحَتِهِ بِمَنْ وَافَانَا
Anna l-ʿadhāba mukhaffafun fī kulli ith-
Naynin li farḥatihi bi man wāfānā
Naynin li farḥatihi bi man wāfānā
110. That his punishment is lightened on every Monday
Because of his happiness at (the birth of) the one sent to us
Because of his happiness at (the birth of) the one sent to us
هَذَا مَعَ الْكُفْرِ فَكَيْفَ بِفَرْحَةٍ
مِنْ ذِي فُؤَادٍ إِمْتَلَا إِيمَانَا
مِنْ ذِي فُؤَادٍ إِمْتَلَا إِيمَانَا
Hādhā maʿa l-kufri fa kayfa bi farḥatin
Min dhī fua'din imtalā īmānā
Min dhī fua'din imtalā īmānā
111. This is with disbelief, so how then with happiness
From a heart that is filled with faith?
From a heart that is filled with faith?
وَرَأَتْ حَلِيمَةٌ مَا رَأَتْ مِنْ بَرَكَا
تِ مُحَمَّدٍ مَا حَيَّرَ الْأَذْهَانَا
تِ مُحَمَّدٍ مَا حَيَّرَ الْأَذْهَانَا
Wa ra'at Ḥalīmatun mā ra'at min barakā-
Ti Muḥammadin mā ḥayyara l-adh-hānā
Ti Muḥammadin mā ḥayyara l-adh-hānā
112. And Halimah saw what she saw of the blessings
Of Muhammad, [things] which bewilder the intellects
Of Muhammad, [things] which bewilder the intellects
دَرَّ لَهُ الثَّدْيُ وَقَدْ كَانَ ابْنُهَا
يَبِيتُ يَبْكِي مُسْغَبًا جَيْعَانَا
يَبِيتُ يَبْكِي مُسْغَبًا جَيْعَانَا
Darra lahu th-thadyu wa qad kāna bnuhā
Yabītu yabkī musghaban jayʿānā
Yabītu yabkī musghaban jayʿānā
113. Her breasts flowed with milk for him, even though
Her son used to go to bed weeping and hungry
Her son used to go to bed weeping and hungry
لَكِنَّهُ لَيْلَةَ أَنْ جَاءَ الْحَبِيـ
ـبُ بَاتَ مَوْفُورَ الرِّضَا شَبْعَانَا
ـبُ بَاتَ مَوْفُورَ الرِّضَا شَبْعَانَا
Lākinnahu laylata an jā'a l-ḥabī-
Bu bāta mawfūra r-riḍā shabʿānā
Bu bāta mawfūra r-riḍā shabʿānā
114. Yet the night the Beloved arrived
He (her son) went to bed fully content and satiated

وَدَرَّتِ النَّاقَةُ أَلْبَانًا وَقَدْ
سَمُنَتْ دُوَيْبَتُهَا فَكَانَ شَانَا
سَمُنَتْ دُوَيْبَتُهَا فَكَانَ شَانَا
Wa darrati n-nāqatu albānan wa qad
Samunat duwaybatuhā fa kāna shānā
Samunat duwaybatuhā fa kāna shānā
115. The she-camel’s [udder] flowed with milk
Such that [Halimah’s] beloved mount became fat; it was a matter
Such that [Halimah’s] beloved mount became fat; it was a matter
أَنْكَرَهُ رِفْقَتُهَا وَسَلَّمَتْ
أَشْجَارٌ أَحْجَارٌ عَلَىٰ مَوْلَانَا
أَشْجَارٌ أَحْجَارٌ عَلَىٰ مَوْلَانَا
Ankarahu rifqatuhā wa sallamat
Ashjārun aḥjārun ʿalā Mawlānā
Ashjārun aḥjārun ʿalā Mawlānā
116. That her companions found strange,
while the trees and the rocks saluted our Master

سُبْحَانَ مَنْ أَنْطَقَ أَشْجَارًا وَأَحْـ
ـجَارًا تُحَيِّي الْمُصْطَفَى سُبْحَانَا
ـجَارًا تُحَيِّي الْمُصْطَفَى سُبْحَانَا
Subḥāna man anṭaqa ashjāran wa aḥ-
Jāran tuḥayyi l-Muṣṭafā subḥāna
Jāran tuḥayyi l-Muṣṭafā subḥāna
117. Glory be to the One who made the trees and rocks speak
Saluting the Chosen One - Glory be to Him!

يَارَبَّنَا صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِمًا
عَلَىٰ حَبِيبِكَ مَنْ إِلَيْكَ دَعَانَا
عَلَىٰ حَبِيبِكَ مَنْ إِلَيْكَ دَعَانَا
Yā Rabbanā ṣalli wa sallim dā'iman
ʿAlā ḥabībika man ilayka daʿānā
ʿAlā ḥabībika man ilayka daʿānā
118. Our Lord, send Your prayers and peace perpetually
Upon Your Beloved, the one who invited us to You.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهْ
Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim wa bārik ʿalayhi wa ʿalā ālih
119. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
Chapter Six
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهْ
Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim wa bārik ʿalayhi wa ʿalā ālih
120. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
هَذَا وَقَدْ نَشَأَ الْحَبِيبُ بِسِيرَةٍ
مَرْضِيَّةٍ وَمَا أَتَى عِصْيَانَا
مَرْضِيَّةٍ وَمَا أَتَى عِصْيَانَا
Hādhā wa qad nasha'a l-ḥabību bi sīratin
Marḍīyyatin wa mā atā ʿiṣyānā
Marḍīyyatin wa mā atā ʿiṣyānā
121. So it was, and the Beloved was raised
In a pleasing manner, never sinning
In a pleasing manner, never sinning
تَرْعَاهُ عَيْنُ اللهِ مَنْ أَدَّبَهُ
أَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَ النَّبِي إِحْسَانَا
أَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَ النَّبِي إِحْسَانَا
Tarʿāhu ʿaynu Llāhi man addabahu
Aḥsana ta'adība n-nabīy iḥsānā
Aḥsana ta'adība n-nabīy iḥsānā
122. Watching over him was the Eye of Allah, the One who refined him -
Indeed the Prophet was perfectly refined by Him
Indeed the Prophet was perfectly refined by Him
فَنَشَا صَدُوقًا مُحْسِنًا ذَا عِفَّةٍ
وَفُتُوَّةٍ وَأَمَانَةٍ مِعْوَانَا
وَفُتُوَّةٍ وَأَمَانَةٍ مِعْوَانَا
Fa nashā ṣadūqan muḥsinan dhā ʿiffatin
Wa futuwwatin wa amānatin miʿwānā
Wa futuwwatin wa amānatin miʿwānā
123. He grew up utterly truthful, beneficent and virtuous
Chivalrous, trustworthy and helping all
Chivalrous, trustworthy and helping all
ذَا هِمَّةٍ وَشَجَاعَةٍ وَتَوَقُّرٍ
وَمَكَارِمٍ لَا تَحْتَصِي حُسْبَانَا
وَمَكَارِمٍ لَا تَحْتَصِي حُسْبَانَا
Dhā himmatin wa shajāʿatin wa tawaqqurin
Wa makārimin lā taḥtaṣī ḥusbānā
Wa makārimin lā taḥtaṣī ḥusbānā
124. Possessing aspiration, bravery and a dignified bearing
With virtuous attributes too many to count

دُعِيَ الْأَمِينُ وَهُوَ فِي أَهْلِ السَّمَا
نِعْمَ الْأَمِينُ لَهُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ صَانَا
نِعْمَ الْأَمِينُ لَهُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ صَانَا
Duʿiya l-Amīnu wa huwa fī ahli s-samā
Niʿama l-Amīnu lahu l-Muhayminu ṣānā
Niʿama l-Amīnu lahu l-Muhayminu ṣānā
125. He was called ‘the Trustworthy; and among the people of the heavens
He was (considered) the most excellent trustworthy one, Protected by the Guardian Lord
He was (considered) the most excellent trustworthy one, Protected by the Guardian Lord
ذَهَبَتْ بِهِ الْأُمُّ تَزُورُ أَبَاهُ فِي
طَيْبَةَ إِذْ فِيهَا الْحِمَامُ كَانَا
طَيْبَةَ إِذْ فِيهَا الْحِمَامُ كَانَا
Dhahabat bihi l-ummu tazūru abāhu fī
Ṭaybata idh fīha l-ḥimāmu kānā
Ṭaybata idh fīha l-ḥimāmu kānā
126. His mother took him to visit his father in Taybah
Since it was there that his father’s death had occurred
Since it was there that his father’s death had occurred
وَالْمُصْطَفَى فِي بَطْنِهَا وَقَدَ أَتَى
عَلَيْهِ سِتٌّ مِنْ سِنِيهِ الْآنَا

Wa l-Muṣṭafā fī baṭnihā wa qad atā
ʿAlayhi sittun min sinīhi l-ānā

127. When the Chosen One was still in her womb -
And now six years had passed from that time

وَقَدْ أَتَاهَا الْمَوْتُ حِينَ رُجُوعِهَا
فَحَبَاهُ عَبْدُ الْمُطَّلِبِ حَنَانَا
فَحَبَاهُ عَبْدُ الْمُطَّلِبِ حَنَانَا
Wa qad atāha l-mawtu ḥīna rujūʿihā
Fa ḥabāhu ʿAbdu l-Muṭṭalibi ḥanānā
Fa ḥabāhu ʿAbdu l-Muṭṭalibi ḥanānā
128. Then death overcame (his mother) on her way back
So Abd al-Muttalib showed him kindness and affection

سَنَتَيْنِ وَافَاهُ الْحِمَامُ فَضَمَّهُ
عَمٌّ مَلَا الْعَطْفُ عَلَيْهِ جَنَانَا
عَمٌّ مَلَا الْعَطْفُ عَلَيْهِ جَنَانَا
Sanatayni wāfāhu l-ḥimāmu fa ḍammahu
ʿAmmun mala l-aṭfu ʿalayhi janānā
ʿAmmun mala l-aṭfu ʿalayhi janānā
129. Two years passed and death overcame him
So his uncle (Abu Talib) embraced him, with a heart full of compassion

خَطَبَتْهُ بِنْتُ خُوَيْلِدٍ فِي الْخَمْسِ وَالْـ
ـعِشْرِينَ حَازَتْ بِالْمُشَفَّعِ شَانَا
ـعِشْرِينَ حَازَتْ بِالْمُشَفَّعِ شَانَا
Khaṭabat-hu bintu Khuwaylidin fi l-khamsi wa l-
ʿIshrīna ḥāzat bi l-mushaffaʿi shānā
ʿIshrīna ḥāzat bi l-mushaffaʿi shānā
130. The daughter of Khuwaylid (Khadijah) proposed to him when he was twenty-five,
She gained a great status through the Intercessor

قَدْ حَقَّقَ الْمَوْلَى لَهَا آمَالَهَا
نَالَتْ سَلَامًا عَالِيًا وَمَكَانَا
نَالَتْ سَلَامًا عَالِيًا وَمَكَانَا
Qad ḥaqqaqa l-Mawlā lahā āmālahā
Nālat salāman ʿāliyan wa makānā
Nālat salāman ʿāliyan wa makānā
131. Her hopes were granted by the Lord
She received lofty salutations (from Allah) and a high station

وَحَلَّ مُشْكِلَةً لِوَضْعِ الْحَجَرِ الْأَ
سْوَدِ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ حَيْثُ أَبَانَا
سْوَدِ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ حَيْثُ أَبَانَا
Wa ḥalla mushkilatan li waḍʿi l-ḥajari l-
Aswadi fi l-kaʿbati ḥaythu abānā
Aswadi fi l-kaʿbati ḥaythu abānā
132. He solved a dispute over placing the Black Stone
In the Ka’ba, when it was made clear to everyone

عَنْ سِعَةِ الْعَقْلِ وَوَقَّادِ الْحِجَا
سُبْحَانَ مَنْ عَلَّمَهُ وَأَعَانَا
سُبْحَانَ مَنْ عَلَّمَهُ وَأَعَانَا
ʿAn siʿati l-ʿaqli wa waqqādi l-ḥijā
Subḥāna man ʿallamahu wa aʿānā
Subḥāna man ʿallamahu wa aʿānā
133. The vastness of his understanding and his radiant discernment,
Glory be to the One who taught him and assisted him!

يَارَبَّنَا صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِمًا
عَلَىٰ حَبِيبِكَ مَنْ إِلَيْكَ دَعَانَا
عَلَىٰ حَبِيبِكَ مَنْ إِلَيْكَ دَعَانَا
Yā Rabbanā ṣalli wa sallim dā'iman
ʿAlā ḥabībika man ilayka daʿānā
ʿAlā ḥabībika man ilayka daʿānā
134. Our Lord, send Your prayers and peace perpetually
Upon Your Beloved, the one who invited us to You.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهْ
Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim wa bārik ʿalayhi wa ʿalā ālih
135. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
Chapter Seven
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهْ
Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim wa bārik ʿalayhi wa ʿalā ālih
136. O Allah, send Your prayers, peace and blessings upon him and his Family
وَأَتَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ بِوَحْيِ اللهِ فِي
غَارِ حِرَاءٍ يَعْبُدُ الرَّحْمٰنَ
غَارِ حِرَاءٍ يَعْبُدُ الرَّحْمٰنَ
Wa atāhu Jibrīlu bi waḥyi Llāhi fī
Ghāri Ḥirā'in yaʿbudu r-Raḥmānā
Ghāri Ḥirā'in yaʿbudu r-Raḥmānā
137. Gabriel brought revelation to him from Allah
While he was in the cave of Hira worshipping the Most Merciful

وَضَمَّهُ الثَّلَاثَ ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَهُ
اِقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَا
اِقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَا
Wa ḍammahu th-thalātha thumma arsalahu
Iqra' wa Rabbuka ʿallama l-insānā
Iqra' wa Rabbuka ʿallama l-insānā
138. He embraced him thrice, then released him,
(Saying), ‘Recite and Your Lord...has taught mankind.’
(Saying), ‘Recite and Your Lord...has taught mankind.’
فَدَعَا ثَلَاثًا فِي خَفَا فَأَتَاهُ أَنْ
إِصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرْ بِهِ إِعْلَانَا
إِصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرْ بِهِ إِعْلَانَا
Fa daʿā thalāthan fī khafā fa atāhu an
Iṣdaʿ bimā tu'mar bihi iʿlānā
Iṣdaʿ bimā tu'mar bihi iʿlānā
139. So he invited (to Islam) secretly for three (years), then it was revealed to him,
‘Proclaim what you have been ordered openly.’
‘Proclaim what you have been ordered openly.’
كَثُرَ الْأَذَى وُهُوَ الصَّبُورُ لِرَبِّهِ
وَهُوَ الشَّكُورُ وَكَانَ لَا يَتَوَانَى
وَهُوَ الشَّكُورُ وَكَانَ لَا يَتَوَانَى
Kathura l-adhā wa huwa ṣ-ṣabūru li Rabbihi
Wa huwa sh-shakūru wa kāna lā yatawānā
Wa huwa sh-shakūru wa kāna lā yatawānā
140. The persecution increased, yet he was utterly patient
And thankful to his Lord, and he showed no weakness
And thankful to his Lord, and he showed no weakness
مَاتَتْ خَدِيجَةُ وَأَبُو طَالِبٍ فِي الْـ
ـخَمْسِينَ فَاشْتَدَّ الْأَذَاءُ فُنُونَا
ـخَمْسِينَ فَاشْتَدَّ الْأَذَاءُ فُنُونَا
Mātat Khadījatu wa Abū Ṭālibin fi l-
Khamsīna fashtadda l-adhā'u funūnā
Khamsīna fashtadda l-adhā'u funūnā
141. Khadijah and Abu Talib [both] died when he was fifty years old
And the persecution intensified in many ways

وَأَتَى ثَقِيفًا دَاعِيًا فَرَمَوْهُ بِالْأَ
حْجَارِ بَلْ أَغْرَوْا بِهِ الصِّبْيَانَا
حْجَارِ بَلْ أَغْرَوْا بِهِ الصِّبْيَانَا
Wa atā Thaqīfan dāʿiyan fa ramaw-hu bi l-
Aḥjāri bal aghraw bihi ṣ-ṣibyānā
Aḥjāri bal aghraw bihi ṣ-ṣibyānā
142. He came to Thaqif as a caller (to Islam), but they pelted him
With stones, and even set their children on him

مَلَكُ الْجِبَالِ أَتَى فَقَالَ اطْبِقُهَا
فَقَالَ لَا بَلْ أَرْتَجِي الْعُقْبَانَا
فَقَالَ لَا بَلْ أَرْتَجِي الْعُقْبَانَا
Malaku l-jibāli atā fa qāla-ṭbiquhā
Fa qāla lā bal artaji l-ʿuqbānā
Fa qāla lā bal artaji l-ʿuqbānā
143. The Angel of the Mountains came and said, ‘Shall I bring down [the mountains upon them]?’
But he said, ‘No, for I have hope in their offspring!’
But he said, ‘No, for I have hope in their offspring!’
أَسْرَى بِهِ الْمَوْلَى وَصَلَّى خَلْفَهُ الرُّ
سْلُ وَشَاهَدَ بَرْزَخًا وَجِنَانَا
سْلُ وَشَاهَدَ بَرْزَخًا وَجِنَانَا
Asrā bihi l-Mawlā wa ṣallā khalfahu r-
Ruslu wa shāhada barzakhan wa jinānā
Ruslu wa shāhada barzakhan wa jinānā
144. The Lord took him on a journey by night, and the Messengers
All prayed behind him, and he witnessed the Barzakh and Paradise

عَرَجَ الْحَبِيبُ إِلَى السَّمَاوَاتِ الْعُلَىٰ
وَالْعَرْشِ وَالْكُرْسِي رَأَى مَوْلَانَا
وَالْعَرْشِ وَالْكُرْسِي رَأَى مَوْلَانَا
ʿAraja l-Ḥabību ilā s-samāwāti l-ʿulā
Wa l-ʿarshi wa l-kursiy ra'ā Mawlānā
Wa l-ʿarshi wa l-kursiy ra'ā Mawlānā
145. The Beloved then ascended to the highest heavens
And to the Throne and the Pedestal, and gazed upon our Lord!

وَالْإِذْنُ بِالْهِجْرَةِ جَاءَ لِيَثْرِبٍ
فَبِهِ ازْدَهَى الْبَلَدُ الْكَرِيمُ وَزَانَا
فَبِهِ ازْدَهَى الْبَلَدُ الْكَرِيمُ وَزَانَا
Wa l-idhnu bi l-hijrati jā'a li Yathribin
Fa bihi z-daha l-baladu l-karīmu wa zānā
Fa bihi z-daha l-baladu l-karīmu wa zānā
146. Permission was granted to migrate to Yathrib,
And through him the noble city was illuminated and beautified

فَأَقَامَ عَشْرًا دَاعِيًا وَمُجَاهِدًا
وَصِحَابُهُ كَانُوا لَهُ أَعْوَانَا
وَصِحَابُهُ كَانُوا لَهُ أَعْوَانَا
Fa aqāma ʿashran dāʿiyan wa mujāhidan
Wa ṣiḥābuhu kānū lahu aʿwānā
Wa ṣiḥābuhu kānū lahu aʿwānā
147. He stayed there ten years, inviting (to Islam) and striving (in Allah’s way)
And his Companions were his helpers

لَا يَرْفَعُونَ إِذَا أَتَى أَصْوَاتَهُمْ
بَلْ لَا يُحِدُّونَ الْبَصَرْ إِمْعَانَا
بَلْ لَا يُحِدُّونَ الْبَصَرْ إِمْعَانَا
Lā yarfaʿūna idhā atā aṣwātahum
Bal lā yuḥiddūna l-baṣar imʿānā
Bal lā yuḥiddūna l-baṣar imʿānā
148. They did not raise their voices when he approached,
Neither did they fix their gaze on him and stare
Neither did they fix their gaze on him and stare
قَدْرًا وَتَعْظِيمًا لِشَأْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ
إِذْ قَدْ تَلَوْا فِي فَضْلِهِ قُرْآنَا
إِذْ قَدْ تَلَوْا فِي فَضْلِهِ قُرْآنَا
Qadran wa taʿaẓīman li sha'ni Muḥammadin
Idh qad talaw fī faḍlihi Qur'ānā
Idh qad talaw fī faḍlihi Qur'ānā
149. Out of recognition and reverence for Muhammad’s position,
Since they had read of his merit in the Quran
Since they had read of his merit in the Quran
وَلَقَدْ رَأَوْا مِنْ خُلْقِهِ عَجَبًا وَكَمْ
قَدْ شَاهَدُوا مَا حَيَّرَ الْأَذْهَانَا
قَدْ شَاهَدُوا مَا حَيَّرَ الْأَذْهَانَا
Wa laqad raʿaw min khulqihi ʿajaban wa kam
Qad shāhadū mā ḥayyara l-adh-hānā
Qad shāhadū mā ḥayyara l-adh-hānā
150. Indeed, they had seen amazing things from his character,
And how many things had they seen which bewildered their minds!
And how many things had they seen which bewildered their minds!
كَرَمًا وَعَفْوًا وَالسَّخَا وَتَوَاضُعًا
وَالْجِذْعُ حَنَّ مَحَبَّةً وَحَنَانَا
وَالْجِذْعُ حَنَّ مَحَبَّةً وَحَنَانَا
Karaman wa ʿafwan wa s-sakhā wa tawāḍuʿan
Wa l-jidhʿu ḥanna maḥabbatan wa ḥanānā
Wa l-jidhʿu ḥanna maḥabbatan wa ḥanānā
151. Generosity and forgiveness, munificence and humility,
(Even) the palm trunk yearned in love and affection
(Even) the palm trunk yearned in love and affection
وَالْمَاءُ مِنْ بَيْنِ الْأَصَابِعِ نَابِعًا
وَالْجَيْشُ أَضْحَى شَارِبًا رَيَّانَا
وَالْجَيْشُ أَضْحَى شَارِبًا رَيَّانَا
Wa l-mā'u min bayni l-aṣābiʿi nābiʿan
Wa l-jayshu aḍ-ḥā shāriban rayyānā
Wa l-jayshu aḍ-ḥā shāriban rayyānā
152. The water flowed from between his fingers, and thus
By the forenoon, the (whole) army’s thirst was quenched

وَاللهِ قَدْ عَظُمَتْ مَعَاجِزُ أَحْمَدٍ
رَفَعَ الْمُهَيْمِنُ لِلنَّبِيِّ مَكَانَا
رَفَعَ الْمُهَيْمِنُ لِلنَّبِيِّ مَكَانَا
Wa Llāhi qad ʿaẓumat maʿājizu Aḥmadin
Rafaʿa l-Muhayminu li n-nabiyyi makānā
Rafaʿa l-Muhayminu li n-nabiyyi makānā
153. By Allah, truly great are the miracles of Ahmad!
The Guardian Lord has raised the Prophet’s station.

وَلَقَدْ غَزَا سَبْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ مَعَ الصَّـ
ـحْبِ رِجَالًا قَدْ مَشَوْا رُكْبَانَا
ـحْبِ رِجَالًا قَدْ مَشَوْا رُكْبَانَا
Wa laqad ghazā sabʿan wa ʿishrīna maʿa ṣ-ṣaḥ-
Bi rijālan qad mashaw rukbānā
Bi rijālan qad mashaw rukbānā
154. He fought twenty-seven battles with his Companions,
Going forth on foot and on horseback
Going forth on foot and on horseback
أَكْرِمْ بِهِ وَبِصَحْبِهِ وَبِتَابِعٍ
يَا رَبِّ أَلْحِقْنَا بِهِمْ إِحْسَانَا
يَا رَبِّ أَلْحِقْنَا بِهِمْ إِحْسَانَا
Akrim bihi wa bi ṣaḥbihi wa bi tābiʿin
Yā Rabbī alḥiqnā bihim iḥsānā
Yā Rabbī alḥiqnā bihim iḥsānā
155. Honour him and his Companions and the Followers!
O Lord, gather us with them out of Your mercy!

يَارَبَّنَا صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِمًا
عَلَىٰ حَبِيبِكَ مَنْ إِلَيْكَ دَعَانَا

ʿAlā ḥabībika man ilayka daʿānā

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ فِي الْأَوَّلِينَ
وَصَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ
وَصَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ فِي النَّبِيِّينَ
وَصَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ فِي الْمُرْسَلِينَ
وَصَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ فِي الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَى إِلَى يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
وَصَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ أَجْمَعِينِ
وَصَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ
وَصَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ فِي النَّبِيِّينَ
وَصَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ فِي الْمُرْسَلِينَ
وَصَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ فِي الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَى إِلَى يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
وَصَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ أَجْمَعِينِ
Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin fi l-awwalīn,

wa ṣalli wa sallim ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin fi n-nabiyyīn,
wa ṣalli wa sallim ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin fi l-mursalīn,
wa ṣalli wa sallim ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin fi l-mala'i l-aʿlā ilā yawmi d-dīn,
wa ṣalli wa sallim ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā ālihi wa ṣaḥbihi ajmaʿīn.
wa ṣalli wa sallim ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin fi l-ākhirīn,
wa ṣalli wa sallim ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin fi n-nabiyyīn,
wa ṣalli wa sallim ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin fi l-mursalīn,
wa ṣalli wa sallim ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin fi l-mala'i l-aʿlā ilā yawmi d-dīn,
wa ṣalli wa sallim ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā ālihi wa ṣaḥbihi ajmaʿīn.
159. O Allah, send prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad among the first generations,
send prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad among the later generations,
send prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad among the Prophets,
send prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad among the Messengers,
send prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad in the Supreme Assembly until the Last Day,
send prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad and upon all of his Family and Companions.
send prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad among the later generations,
send prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad among the Prophets,
send prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad among the Messengers,
send prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad in the Supreme Assembly until the Last Day,
send prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad and upon all of his Family and Companions.
وَلَقَدْ أَشَرْتُ لِنَعْتِ مَنْ أَوْصَافُهُ
تُحْيِي الْقُلُوبَ تُهَيِّجُ الْأَشْجَانَا
تُحْيِي الْقُلُوبَ تُهَيِّجُ الْأَشْجَانَا
Wa laqad ashartu li naʿati man awṣāfuhu
Tuḥyi l-qulūba tuhayyiju l-ashjānā
Tuḥyi l-qulūba tuhayyiju l-ashjānā
160. Indeed I have drawn attention to the attributes of the one
Whose qualities revive the heart, and ignite the fires of yearning
Whose qualities revive the heart, and ignite the fires of yearning
وَاللهُ قَدْ أَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ فَمَا يُسَا
وِي الْقَوْلُ مِنَّا أَوْ يَكُونُ ثَنَانَا
وِي الْقَوْلُ مِنَّا أَوْ يَكُونُ ثَنَانَا
Wa Llāhu qad athnā ʿalayhi fa mā yusā-
Wi l-qawlu minnā aw yakūnu thanānā
Wi l-qawlu minnā aw yakūnu thanānā
161. Allah Himself has praised him, so how can our words compare
Or even be considered praise?
Or even be considered praise?
لَكِنَّ حُبًّا فِي السَّرَائِرِ قَدْ دَعَا
لِمَدِيحِ صَفْوَةِ رَبِّنَا وَحَدَانَا
لِمَدِيحِ صَفْوَةِ رَبِّنَا وَحَدَانَا
Lakinna ḥubban fi s-sarā'iri qad daʿā
Li madīḥi ṣafwati Rabbinā wa ḥadānā
Li madīḥi ṣafwati Rabbinā wa ḥadānā
162. However it is a love established deep in the heart, which called to us and urged us
To praise the purest of our Lords (creation)

وَإِذِ امْتَزَجْنَا بِالْمَوَدَّةِ هَـٰهُنَا
نَرْفَعُ أَيْدِي فَقْرِنَا وَرَجَانَا
نَرْفَعُ أَيْدِي فَقْرِنَا وَرَجَانَا
Wa idhi mtazajnā bi l-mawaddati hāhunā
Narfaʿu aydī faqrinā wa rajānā
Narfaʿu aydī faqrinā wa rajānā
163. And now that we have become infused with the love [of Muhammad] here,
We raise the hands of our poverty and hope
We raise the hands of our poverty and hope
لِلْوَاحِدِ الْأَحَدِ الْعَلِيِّ إِلَـٰهِنَا
مُتَوَسِّلِينَ بِمَنْ إِلَيْهِ دَعَانَا
مُتَوَسِّلِينَ بِمَنْ إِلَيْهِ دَعَانَا
Li l-Wāḥidi l-Aḥadi l-ʿAliyyi Ilāhinā
Mutawassilīna bi man ilayhi daʿānā

164. To our Lord, the One, the Unique, the Most High
Interceding by the one who called us to Him

مُخْتَارِهِ وَحَبِيبِهِ وَصَفِيِّهِ
زَيْنِ الْوُجُودِ بِهِ الْإِلَـٰهُ حَبَانَا
زَيْنِ الْوُجُودِ بِهِ الْإِلَـٰهُ حَبَانَا
Mukhtārihi wa ḥabībihi wa ṣafiyyihi
Zayni l-wujūdi bihi l-Ilāhu ḥabānā
Zayni l-wujūdi bihi l-Ilāhu ḥabānā
165. His Chosen One, His Beloved, His Purest,
The beauty of existence, by him the Lord has favoured us
The beauty of existence, by him the Lord has favoured us
يَا رَبَّنَا يَا رَبَّنَا يَا رَبَّنَا
بِالْمُصْطَفَى اقْبَلْنَا أَجِبْ دَعْوَانَا
بِالْمُصْطَفَى اقْبَلْنَا أَجِبْ دَعْوَانَا
Yā Rabbanā Yā Rabbanā Yā Rabbanā
Bi l-Muṣṭafā qbalnā ajib daʿwānā
Bi l-Muṣṭafā qbalnā ajib daʿwānā
166. O our Lord! Our Lord! Our Lord!
By the Chosen One, accept us and answer our supplications

أَنْتَ لَنَا أَنْتَ لَنَا يَا ذُخْرَنَا
فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا وَفِي أُخْرَانَا
فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا وَفِي أُخْرَانَا
Anta lanā anta lanā yā dhukhranā
Fī hādhihi d-dunyā wa fī ukhrānā
Fī hādhihi d-dunyā wa fī ukhrānā
167. You are sufficient for us! You are sufficient for us! You are our security
In this world and in the Hereafter

أَصْلِحْ لَنَا الْأَحْوَالَ وَاغْفِرْ ذَنْبَنَا
وَلَا تُؤَاخِذْ رَبِّي إِنْ أَخْطَانَا
وَلَا تُؤَاخِذْ رَبِّي إِنْ أَخْطَانَا
Aṣliḥ lana l-aḥwāla waghfir dhanbanā
Wa lā tu'ākhidh Rabbī in akhṭānā
Wa lā tu'ākhidh Rabbī in akhṭānā
168. Rectify our states for us and forgive us our sins
And do not hold us accountable, O Lord, if we err
And do not hold us accountable, O Lord, if we err
وَاسْلُكْ بِنَا فِي نَهْجِ طَهَ الْمُصْطَفَى
ثَبِّتْ عَلَىٰ قَدَمِ الْحَبِيبِ خُطَانَا
ثَبِّتْ عَلَىٰ قَدَمِ الْحَبِيبِ خُطَانَا
Wasluk binā fī nahji Ṭāha l-Muṣṭafā
Thabbit ʿalā qadami l-ḥabībi khuṭānā
Thabbit ʿalā qadami l-ḥabībi khuṭānā
169. Take us down the path of Taha, the Chosen One
And make firm our footsteps in the steps of the Beloved
And make firm our footsteps in the steps of the Beloved
أَرِنَا بِفَضْلٍ مِنْكَ طَلْعَةَ أَحْمَدٍ
فِي بَهْجَةٍ عَيْنُ الرِّضَا تَرْعَانَا
فِي بَهْجَةٍ عَيْنُ الرِّضَا تَرْعَانَا
Arinā bi faḍlin minka ṭalʿata Aḥmadin
Fī bahjatin ʿaynu r-riḍā tarʿānā
Fī bahjatin ʿaynu r-riḍā tarʿānā
170. Show us, through Your grace, the manifestation of Ahmad, in his splendour,
As the eye of Your good pleasure watches over us
As the eye of Your good pleasure watches over us
وَارْبُطْ بِهِ فِي كُلِّ حَالٍ حَبْلَنَا
وَحِبَالَ مَنْ وَدَّ وَمَنْ وَالَانَا
وَحِبَالَ مَنْ وَدَّ وَمَنْ وَالَانَا
Warbuṭ bihi fī kulli ḥālin ḥablanā
Wa ḥibāla man wadda wa man wālānā
Wa ḥibāla man wadda wa man wālānā
171. Strengthen our bond with him (Muhammad) in every state
And the bond of those who love and support us
And the bond of those who love and support us
وَالْمُحْسِنِينَ وَمَنْ أَجَابَ نِدَاءَنَا
وَذَوِي الْحُقُوقِ وَطَالِبًا أَوْصَانَا
وَذَوِي الْحُقُوقِ وَطَالِبًا أَوْصَانَا
Wa l-muḥsinīna wa man ajāba nidā'anā
Wa dhawi l-ḥuqūqi wa ṭāliban awṣānā
Wa dhawi l-ḥuqūqi wa ṭāliban awṣānā
172. Those who do good and those who answered our call,
Those who have rights [over us] and those who have requested our prayers
Those who have rights [over us] and those who have requested our prayers
وَالْحَاضِرِينَ وَسَاعِيًا فِي جَمْعِنَا
هَا نَحْنُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ أَنْتَ تَرَانَا
هَا نَحْنُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ أَنْتَ تَرَانَا
Wa l-ḥāḍirīna wa sāʿiyan fī jamʿinā
Hā naḥnu bayna yadayka anta tarānā
Hā naḥnu bayna yadayka anta tarānā
173. Those who are present and those who assist in our gatherings
Here we are before You (O Allah), truly You see us
Here we are before You (O Allah), truly You see us
وَلَقَدْ رَجَوْنَاكَ فَحَقِّقْ سُؤْلَنَا
وَاسْمَعْ بِفَضْلِكَ يَا سَمِيعُ دُعَانَا
وَاسْمَعْ بِفَضْلِكَ يَا سَمِيعُ دُعَانَا
Wa laqad rajawnāka fa ḥaqqiq su'lanā
Wasmaʿ bi faḍlika yā Samīʿu duʿānā
Wasmaʿ bi faḍlika yā Samīʿu duʿānā
174. Indeed, we have placed our hopes in You, that You might answer our request
Hear us, by Your grace, O Hearer of our prayer

وَانْصُرْ بِنَا سُنَّةَ طَهَ فِي بِقَا
عِ الْأَرْضِ وَاقْمَعْ كُلَّ مَنْ عَادَانَا
عِ الْأَرْضِ وَاقْمَعْ كُلَّ مَنْ عَادَانَا
Wanṣur binā sunnata Ṭāhā fī biqāʿi-l
Arḍi waqmaʿa kulla man ʿādānā
Arḍi waqmaʿa kulla man ʿādānā
175. By means of us, give victory to the sunnah of Taha,
Throughout the earth, and restrain all those who show enmity to us

وَانْظُرْ إِلَيْنَا وَاسْقِنَا كَأْسَ الْهَنَا
وَاشْفِ وَعَافِ عَاجِلًا مَرْضَانَا
وَاشْفِ وَعَافِ عَاجِلًا مَرْضَانَا
Wanẓur ilaynā wasqinā ka'sa l-hanā
Washfi wa ʿāfi ʿājilan marḍānā
Washfi wa ʿāfi ʿājilan marḍānā
176. Gaze upon us, give us to drink from a cup of felicity
And swiftly cure and grant good health to our sick ones
And swiftly cure and grant good health to our sick ones
وَاقْضِ لَنَا الْحَاجَاتِ وَاحْسِنْ خَتْمَنَا
عِنْدَ الْمَمَاتِ وَأَصْلِحَنْ عُقْبَانَا
عِنْدَ الْمَمَاتِ وَأَصْلِحَنْ عُقْبَانَا
Waqḍi lana l-ḥājāti waḥsin khatmanā
ʿInda l-mamāti wa aṣliḥan ʿuqbānā
ʿInda l-mamāti wa aṣliḥan ʿuqbānā
177. Take care of our affairs and beautify our last moments
At the time of death, and make good our final end

يَارَبِّ وَاجْمَعْنَا وَأَحْبَابًا لَنَا
فِي دَارِكَ الْفِرْدَوْسِ يَارَجْوَانَا
فِي دَارِكَ الْفِرْدَوْسِ يَارَجْوَانَا
Yā Rabbī wajmaʿnā wa aḥbāban lanā
Fī dārika l-firdawsi yā Rajwānā
Fī dārika l-firdawsi yā Rajwānā
178. O Lord, gather us, and those beloved to us
In Your abode of Firdaus, O our [only] Hope,
In Your abode of Firdaus, O our [only] Hope,
بِالْمُصْطَفَى صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
مَا حَرَّكَتْ رَيحُ الصَّبَا أَغْصَانَا
مَا حَرَّكَتْ رَيحُ الصَّبَا أَغْصَانَا
Bi l-Muṣṭafā ṣalli ʿalayhi wa ālihi
Mā ḥarrakat rīḥu ṣ-ṣabā aghṣānā
Mā ḥarrakat rīḥu ṣ-ṣabā aghṣānā
179. Through the Chosen One, and send Your prayers upon him and his Family
So long as the easterly breezes sway the branches
So long as the easterly breezes sway the branches
سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا یَصِفُونَ
Subḥāna Rabbika Rabbi l-ʿIzzati ʿammā yaṣifūn
180. Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, beyond what they describe

وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِینَ
wa salāmun ʿala l-Mursalīn
181. And peace be upon the Messengers

وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِینَ
wa l-ḥamdu li Llāhi Rabbi l-ʿĀlamīn.
182. And praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَىٰ ٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسْلِيمًا
Inna Llāha wa malā'ikatahu yuṣallūna ʿalā n-nabiyy; yā ayyuha l-ladhīna āmanū ṣallū ʿalayhi wa sallimū taslīmā.
183. Indeed, Allah and His angels shower blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe! Send blessings on him and salute him with a worthy salutation.

الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا سَيِّدَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَاتِمَ النَّبِيِّينَ
الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَنْ أَرْسَلَكَ اللهُ رَحْمَةً لِلْعَـٰلَمِینَ
وَرَضِيَ اللهُ تَعَالَى عَنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ أَجْمَعِينَ

الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَاتِمَ النَّبِيِّينَ

184. Peace and blessings be upon you, O Master of the Messengers
