Qasida Mudariyya Benefits
Virtues of Qasida Mudariyya
Habib Zain ibn Ibrahim has said: ‘One who recites Qasida Mudariyya regularly will see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a dream. Others have said that after regular recitation of the Mudariyya they received the vision of the Prophet ﷺ in a dream. Habib Umar ibn Ahmad ibn Sumait, said that his noble father said: ‘One who regularly recites the Mudariyya and the Burda they will see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a dream.
Ibrahim ad-Dasuqi said: “Constant recitation of the Qasida Mudariyya on Thursday night is a means to see the Prophet ﷺ in a dream followed by recitation of the following verse from Qasida Burda, continuously until one falls asleep:
Wa l-ḥubbu yaʿtariḍu l-ladhdhāti bi l-alami
Oh, how love hinders the tasting of delight with its suffering!
Another story relates that there was a group of people who were travelling to meet Shaykh Nurayn Ahmad Sabir. They were walking along the coast, reciting Qasida Mudariyya, when they reached the verse:
Shamsu n-nahāri wa mā qad shaʿshaʿa l-qamaru
As long as the sun shines upon the day,
And the moon casts its radiance about
Lights radiated from the East to the West, to the extent that they were unable to walk, so they stopped and after a while they continued their journey.

And the Prophets and all of the Messengers whenever they are mentioned
Wa ṣaḥbihi man liṭayyi d-dīni qad nasharū
And his Companions, those who spread abroad the teachings of the religion

Wa hājarū wa lahu āwaw wa qad naṣarū
Who emigrated, gave him shelter and aided him
Li-Llāhi waʿtaṣamū bi-Llāhi fa-ntaṣarū
For the sake of Allah, clung to Allah and so were victorious
Yuʿaṭṭiru l-kawna rayyā nashrihā l-ʿaṭiru
Their fragrant diffusion sweetly permeates the universe
Min ṭībihā araju r-riḍwāni yantashiru
From their scent spreads the sweet perfume of acceptance and good pleasure
Najmu s-samā wa nabātu l-arḍi wa l-madaru
Followed by the stars in the heavens, plants of the earth and mounds of clay
Yalīhi qaṭru jamiʿi l-mā'i wa l-maṭaru
And the drops of all the water and all the rain

Wa kulli ḥarfin ghadā yutlā wa yustaṭaru
And every letter or character that will be read or written

Jarā bihi l-qalamu l-ma'mūru wa l-qadaru
And whatever was brought by the commanded Pen and the Divine Decree
ʿAlā l-khalā'iqi mudh kānū wa mudh ḥushirū
Which You have bestowed upon created beings, ever since they came into being and were gathered together
Bihi n-nabiyyūna wa l-amlāku wa-ftakharū
By which the Prophets and the angels were ennobled, and they took pride in this
Wa mā yakūnu ilā an tubʿatha ṣ-ṣuwaru
And whatever is still to come into existence, until the Day when the forms will be resurrected

Ahlu s-samāwāti wa l-arḍīna aw yadharū
The people of the heavens and the earths glance or cease to glance
Wa l-farshi wa l-ʿarshi wa l-kursī wa mā ḥaṣarū
The spread-out earth, the Throne, the Footstool and all they contain
-dūman ṣalātan dawāman laysa tanḥaṣiru
He has brought into being, blessings without limit and enduring forever

Wa lā lahā amadun yuqḍā fa-yuʿtabaru
And no limit decreed, so consider this well

Amartanā an nuṣallī anta muqtadiru
And as You have commanded us to send blessings, You are the Owner of Mighty Power
Rabbī wa ḍāʿifhumā wa l-faḍlu muntashiru
O my Lord, and multiply them both so that grace may spread far and wide
Anfāsi khalqika in qallū wa in kathurū
Of Your created beings, whether they be few in number or many
Wa l-muslimīna jamīʿan aynamā ḥaḍarū
And all of the Muslims, wherever they may be
Wa kullunā sayyidī li-l-ʿafwi muftaqiru
For all of us, O my Master, are in great need of forgiveness
Lākinna ʿafwaka lā yubqī wa lā yadharu
But indeed Your pardon leaves nothing - no sin remains
Wa qad atā khāḍiʿan wa l-qalbu munkasiru
And it came humbly and with a broken heart
