Surah Qiyamah
Contents

I swear by the day of resurrection, [75:1]
and I swear by the accusing self. [75:2]
Does man assume We can’t reassemble his bones? [75:3]
On the contrary, We are capable of arranging him to the fingertips. [75:4]
But man wishes to live dissolutely as long as he can: [75:5]
he questions, “When is the day of resurrection?” [75:6]
Then when the eyesight is dazzled [75:7]
and the moon is eclipsed [75:8]
and the sun and moon are joined, [75:9]
man will say that day, “Where is the escape?” [75:10]
No, there is no refuge— [75:11]
To your Lord is as far as you will get that day. [75:12]
Man will be told that day about what he preferred and what he deferred: [75:13]
and man will be evidence against himself, [75:14]
even though he present his excuses. [75:15]
Don’t agitate your tongue about this to hurry with it: [75:16]
for its collection and its recital are up to Us: [75:17]
so when We have recited it, then follow its recital: [75:18]
and its elucidation is up to Us. [75:19]
No, on the contrary, you love the ephemeral [75:20]
and ignore the hereafter. [75:21]
Some faces will be aglow that day, [75:22]
gazing at their Lord: [75:23]
and some faces will be frowning that day, [75:24]
thinking they’d be made destitute thereby. [75:25]
In any case, when it reaches the collar bones [75:26]
and it is said, “Who can work a wonder?” [75:27]
and he assumes the departure is imminent, [75:28]
and one leg is entwined with the other, [75:29]
the drive that day is to your Lord. [75:30]
Now he neither accepted the truth nor prayed; [75:31]
instead he scoffed and turned away, [75:32]
and went to his kindred strutting. [75:33]
All the more so of you; [75:34]
all the more so of you. [75:35]
Does man think he’ll be left for naught? [75:36]
Wasn’t he a drop of seed emitted, [75:37]
and then he was a clot? Thus God created and proportioned, [75:38]
and made of the human a pair of mates, male and female. [75:39]
Isn’t the one who did that able to revive the dead? [75:40]
