Sidi Yusuf ibn Ali
Sidi Yusuf ibn Ali’s (Arabic: سيدي يوسف بن علي) full name is Abou Yacoub Youssef Ali as-Sanhaji al-Mubtali. He is one of the seven saints of Marrakesh and was renowned for his great patience, forbearance and acceptance of the divine decree. Born and raised in Marrakech, he was afflicted with leprosy at a young age and was said to have been banished from living within the city walls. He was nicknamed “the man of the hole”, presumably because he dug a hole outside the city where he spent much time in seclusion. He was buried outside Bab Aghmat, where he had lived.
