Salutation of the Prophet ﷺ transmitted by Imam al-Sha’rani
This prayer is said to grant the reciter the blessings of seeing the Prophet ﷺ in a dream, receiving his intercession, drinking from his Pond (Hawd) and being saved from the Hellfire, according to Imam al-Sha’rani V.
Arabic, Transliteration and Translation
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ رُوْحِ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمّدٍ فِي الْأَرْوَاحِ وَعَلَىٰ جَسَدِهِ فِي الْأجْسَادِ وَعَلَىٰ قَبْرِهِ فِي الْقُبُورِ
Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā ruḥi Sayyidinā Muḥammadin fi l-arwaḥi wa ʿalā jasadihi fi l-ajsādi wa ʿalā qabrihi fi l-qubūr.
O Allah, send prayers upon the Soul of our Master Muhammad among the souls, upon his body among bodies, and upon his grave among graves.
Imam al-Sha‘rani said:
The Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Whoever recites this prayer will see me in their dream. Whoever sees me in their dream will see me on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever sees me on the Day of Resurrection will receive my intercession. Whoever receives my intercession will drink from my Pond (Hawd), and Allah will make their body forbidden to the Hellfire.’
I once tested this prayer by reciting it just before sleeping, and when I fell asleep, I saw the Prophet’s ﷺ sublime face upon the moon. I spoke to him until he disappeared within the moon. I ask Allah, the Most Tremendous, by the rank of the Prophet ﷺ, to grant me all the blessings he promised in this noble hadith to those who recite this prayer!
