صَلِّ يَا سَلَامْ عَلَى الْوَسِيلَةْ ❁
وَشَمْسِ الْأَنَامْ طَلْعَةِ لَيْلَى ❁

Ṣalli yā Salām ʿalā l-wasīlah,
wa-shamsi l-anām ṭalʿati Laylā.

1. CHORUS
O Source of Peace, send Your prayers upon the great intermediary,
the sun of all creation and the countenance of Layla.

يَا سَاقِي الْعُشَّاقْ أَمْلَ الْكُؤُوسَا ❁
مِنْ خَمْرِ الْأَذْوَاقْ يُحْيِي النُّفُوسَا ❁
مِنْ خَمْرِ الْأَذْوَاقْ يُحْيِي النُّفُوسَا ❁
Yā sāqī l-ʿushshāq amla l-ku'ūsā,
min khamri l-adhwāq yuḥyī n-nufūsā.

2. O cupbearer of the lovers, fill the cups
with the wine of spiritual taste that revives souls.

حَضْرَةُ الْإِطْلَاقْ أَبْدَتْ شُمُوسَا ❁
مَحَتِ الرَّوَاقْ عَنْ وَجْهِ لَيْلَى ❁

3. The infinite presence brought forth suns
that removed the veil from Layla’s countenance.

مُبْتَغَى الْعُشَّاقْ حِينَ تَجَلَّى ❁
فِي ذَاتِ الْخَلَّاقْ اَلْمَوْلَى جَلَّ ❁

Mubtaghā l-ʿushshāq ḥīna tajallā,
fī dhāti l-Khallāq al-Mawlā jalla.

4. The utmost desire of the lovers, when He manifests Himself,
is found in the essence of the Creator, the Exalted Master.

بِكُلِّ رَوْنَقْ جَمَالُ لَيْلَى ❁

5. From the ocean of the infinite, Layla’s beauty

وَفَاحَ الْأَزْهَارْ وَالرَّوْضُ عَاطِرْ ❁

wa-fāḥa l-azhār wa-r-rawḍu ʿāṭir.

6. Birds sang above the pulpits,
flowers spread their fragrance, and the garden was sweetly scented.

رَنَّتِ الْأَوْتَارْ وَالْحِبُّ حَاضِرْ ❁
غَنِّ يَا خَمَّارْ بِحُسْنِ لَيْلَى ❁

Rannati l-awtār wa-l-ḥibbu ḥāḍir,

7. The strings resounded while the beloved was present.

يَا عَيْنَ الْعُيُونْ ظَهَرْتَ جَهْرَا ❁
بِجَمْعِ الْفُنُونْ كَأْسًا وَخَمْرَا ❁

Yā ʿayna l-ʿuyūn ẓaharta jahrā,
bi-jamʿi l-funūn ka'san wa-khamrā.

8. O spring of all springs, you appeared openly,
in all forms, as cup and wine.

زَالَتِ الشُّجُونْ طَابَتِ الْحَضْرَةْ ❁
بِالسِّرِّ الْمَكْنُونْ مِنْ كَنْزِ لَيْلَى ❁

Zālati sh-shujūn ṭābati l-ḥaḍrah,
bi-s-sirri l-maknūn min kanzi Laylā.

9. Sorrows vanished, and the presence became sweet
through the concealed secret of Layla’s treasure.

اِبْنُ يَلِّسْ هَامْ لَمَّا سُقِيَا ❁
مِنْ خَمْرِ الْأَذْوَاقْ فَانِي بَاقِيَا ❁

Ibnu Yallis hām lammā suqiyā,
min khamri l-adhwāq fānī bāqiyā.

10. Ibn Yallis became enraptured when he was given to drink
of the wine of spiritual taste, passing into annihilation and subsistence.

for as long as the wine is served in the gatherings of Layla.
