About Salat al-Saqafiyyah
This prayer was composed by the great qutb, spiritual guide, and leader among the people of unveiling, Sayyid Abdallah al-Saqqaf. It is a profound and highly symbolic prayer upon the Prophet ﷺ, containing rich spiritual meanings and expressions drawn from the language of the people of realisation.
Imam Yusuf al-Nabahani relates that the author was given glad tidings in a vision of the Prophet ﷺ, in which he was told that whoever recites this prayer, or even looks upon it, will be granted a good ending and the intercession of the Prophet ﷺ. It is also reported that the Prophet ﷺ said to him, “This is a reward for you, O Abdallah, and for what you have written.”
The prayer praises the Prophet ﷺ as the means through which divine knowledge, light, and guidance reach creation. It describes him as the one who gathers all realities, the bridge between the unseen and the seen, the guide of souls through the stages of existence, and the one through whom hearts are drawn to Allah and purified. It also alludes to the relationship between the realities of the prophets and the various degrees of spiritual realisation.
