Salat al-Ruh wa al-Jasad
Salat al-Ruh wa al-Jasad (Arabic: صلاة الروح والجسد; “The Prayer upon the Soul and Body”) is a brief prayer upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Imam al-Shaʿrani relates that its recitation is associated with the blessings of seeing the Prophet ﷺ in a dream, receiving his intercession, drinking from his Pond (Hawd), and being protected from the Hellfire.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى رُوحِ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ فِي الْأَرْوَاحِ ❁ وَعَلَى جَسَدِهِ فِي الْأَجْسَادِ ❁ وَعَلَى قَبْرِهِ فِي الْقُبُورِ ❁
Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā rūḥi sayyidinā Muḥammadin fī l-arwāḥi, wa-ʿalā jasadihi fī l-ajsādi, wa-ʿalā qabrihi fī l-qubūr.
O Allah, send prayers upon the soul of our master Muhammad among all souls, and upon his body among all bodies, and upon his grave among all graves.

About Salat al-Ruh wa al-Jasad
Imam al-Sha’rani relates that the Prophet ﷺ said:
Whoever invokes Allah with this prayer will see me in a dream. Whoever sees me in a dream will see me on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever sees me on the Day of Resurrection will receive my intercession, and whoever receives my intercession will drink from my Pond (Hawd). Allah will make his body forbidden to the Hellfire.
The commentators on Dala’il al-Khayrat mention the same narration with the additional wording:
Whoever invokes Allah with this prayer 70 times…
Imam al-Sha’rani also records his own experience with this prayer, writing:
I recited this prayer before going to sleep. During the night I saw the radiant face of the Prophet ﷺ upon the moon and spoke with him until he disappeared within it. I ask Allah Most Tremendous, by the rank of the Prophet ﷺ, to grant me all of the blessings promised in this noble hadith to those who recite this prayer.

- Seeing the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in a dream.
- Seeing the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on the Day of Resurrection.
- Receiving the Prophet’s ﷺ intercession.
- Drinking from the Prophet’s ﷺ Pond (Hawd).
- Protection from the Hellfire, by Allah’s permission.
