Remembrance of Allah in the Masjid

The masjid is a place for the remembrance and worship of Allah. It is recommended to engage in dhikr, including tasbih (glorifying Allah), tahlil (affirming the oneness of Allah), tahmid (praising Allah), and takbir (magnifying Allah). Recitation of the Qur’an, study of hadith, and the pursuit of beneficial Islamic knowledge are also encouraged.

Allah says:

“In houses which Allah has permitted to be raised and His name to be mentioned therein, He is glorified in them in the mornings and evenings…” (24:36)

Allah also says:

“Whoever honours the symbols of Allah, indeed, that is from the piety of hearts.” (22:32)

And He says:

“Whoever honours the sacred ordinances of Allah, it is better for him in the sight of his Lord.” (22:30)
