Lamahat min Mahasini al-Nabiyy (Arabic: لمحات من محاسن النبي ﷺ; “Glimpses of the Prophet’s Beauty ﷺ”) was composed by the erudite Imam Yusuf al-Nabhani. It is a collection of praises and descriptions of our master Muhammad ﷺ, bringing together the beauty of his form, the perfection of his character, the nobility of his lineage, and the excellence of his conduct, reflecting the deep love the imam had for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

1. O Allah, send prayers and peace upon our master Muhammad, who was of beautiful form, handsome and well-proportioned, fair in complexion with a touch of redness, and whose face was like the sun and the moon. Radiant and of manifest brightness, it shone with the brilliance of the moon on the night of the full moon.

2. O Allah, send prayers and peace upon our master Muhammad, whose face had a slight roundness. He was neither excessively tall, nor stout, nor overly round-faced. He had a broad forehead and finely arched eyebrows, full and long without being joined. Between them was a vein that would become visible when he became angry. There was a clear space between his eyebrows, as though what lay between them was pure silver.

3. O Allah, send prayers and peace upon our master Muhammad, who had sharp sight and large, beautiful eyes, wide and well-formed, with intensely dark pupils, naturally lined as if with kohl, the blackness blended with a touch of redness. The inner corners of his eyes were reddish, and his eyelashes were long and abundant, almost appearing to overlap due to their abundance.

4. O Allah, send prayers and peace upon our master Muhammad, who had a prominent, well-shaped nose with a slight aquiline curve at its bridge. A radiance shone upon it. His cheeks were smooth, gently flowing, and firm. His ears were perfectly formed, and his mouth was wide and well-shaped, with beautiful, bright, lustrous white teeth and a slight gap between his front teeth. When he smiled, their radiance would reflect upon the walls, and when he spoke, it was as though light emerged from between his teeth. He had the most beautiful lips and the most delicately formed mouth.

5. O Allah, send prayers and peace upon our master Muhammad, who had a beautiful voice, in which there was a powerful, resonant tone that reached where no other voice could reach. When he delivered a sermon, his anger would intensify and his voice would rise, as though he were one warning of an approaching army, saying: “The enemy has come upon you in the morning or the evening!”

When he was exposed to the sun and the breeze, it was as though he were a vessel of silver tinged with gold, shimmering between the whiteness of silver and the redness of gold. But when the truth was transgressed, nothing could stand before his anger until he upheld it. He would become angry for the sake of his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, and would not become angry for himself, nor would he seek to vindicate himself. When he became angry, he would turn away and avert his face. When he was pleased, he would lower his gaze, and when he saw something he disliked, it would be recognised on his face. He was ever contemplative, with enduring sorrow, and would remain silent for long periods. He would not speak except when there was a need, and he would turn away from those who spoke in an unbecoming manner. When compelled to mention matters considered indecent, he would refer to them indirectly. He carefully guarded his tongue, speaking only about what concerned him. When he remained silent, dignity rested upon him, and when he spoke, he was elevated and adorned with radiance.

His speech was clear and distinct, neither scant nor excessive, such that whoever sat with him would retain it and all who heard it would understand it, as though it were beads strung together, with no excess and no deficiency. If one were to count his words, he would be able to enumerate them. He did not speak ill of anyone, nor criticise them, nor seek out their faults. He spoke only in that for which he hoped for reward from Allah.

In it, voices were not raised, nor were sanctities dishonoured. When he spoke, those sitting with him would lower their heads in stillness, as though birds were perched upon them. When he fell silent, they would speak, and they did not dispute in his presence. Whoever began speaking was heard until he had finished, and the same courtesy was shown to each speaker. If he spoke, they would listen attentively to him, and if he commanded, they hastened to carry out his command. He would smile at what they smiled at and marvel at what they found remarkable.

32. O Allah, send prayers and peace upon our master Muhammad, the first to intercede and the first whose intercession will be accepted, the master of the children of Adam on the Day of Judgement. There will be no prophet on that Day, from Adam and those after him, except that he will be under his banner. 53. O Allah, send prayers upon our master Muhammad and upon the Family of our master Muhammad, as You sent prayers upon our master Ibrahim and upon the family of our master Ibrahim. And bless our master Muhammad and the Family of our master Muhammad, as You blessed our master Ibrahim and the family of our master Ibrahim throughout the worlds. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.
