The First Ten Days of Dhul Hijjah
The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah hold a special status in Islam. It is recommended to increase acts of remembrance during them more than on any other days of the year. Among them, the Day of Arafah holds an even greater distinction, and engaging in dhikr on that day is more virtuous than on the rest of the ten days.
The Best Days for Righteous Deeds
Ibn Abbas I reported that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“There are no deeds better than those performed during these ten days.” They asked, “Not even striving in the path of Allah?” He replied, “Not even striving in the path of Allah, except for a man who goes out risking his life and his wealth and returns with nothing.”

Umar ibn al-Khattab I would proclaim the takbir in his tent at Mina. The people in the mosque would hear him and recite the takbir, followed by the people in the marketplace, until Mina resounded with their takbir. It is also reported that Ibn Umar and Abu Hurayrah L would go to the marketplace during the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah and recite the takbir, prompting the people to recite it with them.

The Day of Arafah and Reliance on Allah
It has been reported that Salim ibn Abdullah ibn Amr I once saw a beggar asking people for help on the Day of Arafah. He said to him:
