Dua Before Eating
Dua 1: When Food Is Brought
Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As I narrated that whenever food was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he would recite the following dua.
اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيمَا رَزَقْتَنَا ❁ وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ ❁ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ❁
Allāhumma bārik lanā fīmā razaqtanā, wa-qinā ʿadhāba n-nār. Bismi Llāh.
O Allah, bless us in what You have provided for us, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. In the name of Allah.

Dua 2: Mentioning Allah’s Name When Eating
Umar ibn Abi Salamah I reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed him to mention Allah’s name when eating. A’ishah J also narrated that if a person forgets to mention Allah at the beginning of the meal, they should say the following.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ ❁
Bismi Llāhi awwalahu wa-ākhirah.
In the name of Allah, at its beginning and its end.

Dua 3: Placing Trust in Allah Before Eating
Jabir I reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took the hand of a man affected by leprosy, placed it in the dish with him, and said the following:
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ثِقَةً بِاللَّهِ وَتَوَكُّلًا عَلَيْهِ ❁
Bismi Llāhi thiqatan bi-Llāhi wa-tawakkulan ʿalayh.
In the name of Allah, trusting in Allah and relying completely upon Him.
