أَلَا يَا لَطِيفُ يَا لَطِيفُ لَكَ اللُّطْفُ ❁
فَأَنْتَ اللَّطِيفُ مِنْكَ يَشْمَلُنَا اللُّطْفُ ❁
فَأَنْتَ اللَّطِيفُ مِنْكَ يَشْمَلُنَا اللُّطْفُ ❁
Alā yā Laṭīfu yā Laṭīfu laka l-luṭfu,
fa-anta l-Laṭīfu minka yashmalunā l-luṭfu.

1. O Gentle One, O Gentle One, to You belongs gentleness.
For You are the Gentle One, and gentleness from You envelops us.
For You are the Gentle One, and gentleness from You envelops us.
لَطِيفٌ لَطِيفٌ إِنَّنِي مُتَوَسِّلٌ ❁
بِلُطْفِكَ فَلْطُفْ بِي وَقَدْ نَزَلَ اللُّطْفُ ❁
بِلُطْفِكَ فَلْطُفْ بِي وَقَدْ نَزَلَ اللُّطْفُ ❁
Laṭīfun Laṭīfun innanī mutawassilun,
bi-luṭfika fa-lṭuf bī wa-qad nazala l-luṭfu.

2. O Gentle One, O Gentle One, I seek a means of approach
through Your gentleness. Be gentle with me, for gentleness has descended.

بِلُطْفِكَ عُذْنَا يَا لَطِيفُ وَهَا نَحْنُ ❁
دَخَلْنَا فِي وَسْطِ اللُّطْفِ وَانْسَدَلَ اللُّطْفُ ❁
دَخَلْنَا فِي وَسْطِ اللُّطْفِ وَانْسَدَلَ اللُّطْفُ ❁
Bi-luṭfika ʿudhnā yā Laṭīfu wa-hā naḥnu,
dakhalnā fī wasṭi l-luṭfi wa-nsadala l-luṭfu.

3. In Your gentleness we have sought refuge, O Gentle One, and here we are.
We have entered the midst of gentleness, and gentleness has enfolded us.

نَجَوْنَا بِلُطْفِ اللَّهِ ذِي اللُّطْفِ إِنَّهُ ❁
لَطِيفٌ لَطِيفٌ لُطْفُهُ دَائِمًا لُطْفُ ❁
لَطِيفٌ لَطِيفٌ لُطْفُهُ دَائِمًا لُطْفُ ❁
Najawnā bi-luṭfi Llāhi dhī l-luṭfi innahu,
Laṭīfun Laṭīfun luṭfuhu dā'iman luṭfu.

4. We were saved by the gentleness of Allah, the One Who possesses gentleness. Truly, He is
the Gentle One, the Gentle One. His gentleness is always gentleness.

أَلَا يَا حَفِيظُ يَا حَفِيظُ لَكَ الْحِفْظُ ❁

Bi-jāhi imāmi l-mursalīna Muḥammadin,
fa-lawlāhu ʿaynu l-ḥifẓi mā nazala l-ḥifẓu.

9. By the rank of the leader of the Messengers, Muhammad,
were it not for him, the essence of protection, protection would not have descended.

عَلَيْهِ صَلَاةُ اللَّهِ مَا قَالَ مُنْشِدٌ ❁
أَلَا يَا حَفِيظُ يَا حَفِيظُ لَكَ الْحِفْظُ ❁
أَلَا يَا حَفِيظُ يَا حَفِيظُ لَكَ الْحِفْظُ ❁
ʿAlayhi ṣalātu Llāhi mā qāla munshidun,
alā yā Ḥafīẓu yā Ḥafīẓu laka l-ḥifẓu.
alā yā Ḥafīẓu yā Ḥafīẓu laka l-ḥifẓu.
10. Upon him be Allah’s prayers whenever a chanter says,
“O Preserver, O Preserver, to You belongs protection.”
“O Preserver, O Preserver, to You belongs protection.”
تَدَارَكْنَا بِاللُّطْفِ الْخَفِيِّ يَا ذَا الْعَطَا ❁
فَأَنْتَ الَّذِي تَشْفِي وَأَنْتَ الَّذِي تَعْفُو ❁
فَأَنْتَ الَّذِي تَشْفِي وَأَنْتَ الَّذِي تَعْفُو ❁
Tadāraknā bi-l-luṭfi l-khafiyyi yā dhā l-ʿaṭā,
fa-anta lladhī tashfī wa-anta lladhī taʿfū.
fa-anta lladhī tashfī wa-anta lladhī taʿfū.
11. Come to our aid through Your hidden gentleness, O Giver of bounty,
for You are the One Who heals, and You are the One Who pardons.

أَغِثْنَا أَغِثْنَا يَا لَطِيفًا بِخَلْقِهِ ❁
إِذَا نَزَلَ الْقَضَاءُ يَتْبَعُهُ اللُّطْفُ ❁
إِذَا نَزَلَ الْقَضَاءُ يَتْبَعُهُ اللُّطْفُ ❁
Aghithnā aghithnā yā Laṭīfan bi-khalqihi,
idhā nazala l-qaḍā'u yatbaʿuhu l-luṭfu.

12. Rescue us, rescue us, O You Who are Gentle with His creation.
Whenever the divine decree descends, gentleness follows it.

بِجَاهِ إِمَامِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ مُحَمَّدٍ ❁
فَلَوْلَاهُ عَيْنُ اللُّطْفِ مَا نَزَلَ اللُّطْفُ ❁

14. Upon him be Allah’s peace whenever a chanter says,
“O Gentle One, O Gentle One, to You belongs gentleness.”
